Would a game from midnight to 3 am been actually worth it?

So count me in as somebody who thinks we lost an important part of the season last night. Not only Harris who is the most obvious, but all of the other first time starters, true freshman, new coaches, everybody needed that home game to settle in and get comfortable. Getting the signals in during "live fire", playing against an unfamiliar opponent, all the little things that make up a game. And we don't get that opportunity and can't make up that experience.

But having said all of that, had we somehow kicked off at 11:45 and tried to play, would it have even been remotely the same? A huge part of the game experience is all of the emotion and adrenaline of the game and playing through it. The rush of running out the tunnel to the screaming fans, the opposing team fired up and coming at you full speed. Playing at 2 am in front of maybe 10K in the stands doesn't even come close to that type of atmosphere. It would have turned into a glorified scrimmage with both teams just trying to get through it and get out before their players got hurt. Not to mention the team structures the day so they peak at gametime, not 6 hours later.

The lightening rules are beyond over-cautious and should have never stopped the game when it did. But once a couple of hours had passed, the chance for a meaningful game was lost

Everyone in the country would have been watching us as well, given that every other game was over by midnight.

I wanted us to play the game for entertainment purposes, but starting a game after 11:30pm sounds like a terrible idea.

I would've loved it for the entertainment value and folk lore that would follow. But it would've been a rough experience for the players and coaches.

I sat up and watched an Hawaii game that started here at 1am in the morning. I was shocked to find out how many of my friends also watched that game. Maybe the stands would've been thin, but billions of people in China, India, Germany and lots of us here in USA would've watched.

Hopefully, we won't be thinking of this seven days from today...

It might've been interesting for lore and may have given some guys needed practice. With a wet field and after a four hour delay, playing until 2 or 3 in the morning sounds like a way to get a few unneeded injuries.

Yeah maybe 10k stayed yet 150k want refunds for the cancellation.

I agree with the atmosphere. I stayed mostly because I was there and hate to leave a game but I knew perfectly well that what crowd was left would be going through the motion and there'd be no excitement in the air.

would have been great for the players. They would have got needed playing time and experience in before the SEC schedule, but not so great for the fans at the game who would be driving home at 4 in the morning.

I stayed, and would've stayed if they started late but it's not that big a deal. We left around 11:00 I think and went to a friend's house on campus and played Rocket League the rest of the night.

There's a difference between being home and watching at that time and having to drive home 1.5 hours AFTER being AT a game at that time.

I wanted us to play just so we can work some kinks out before MSU but we didn't so whatever.

after the first delay + the rain, we were going to run the super les offense anyway (aka like 90% simple runs)

That poor Mcneese team would've had to ride home at 3am following the storm west. Not the safest scenario for multiple reasons.

That baseball regional game that started at 10:30 and ended at 1 was pretty damn fun.

That being said I wouldn't have made it that long. I was hurting by 10:00
