The talent is there but the team doesn't play with any sense of urgency. A change in leadership would at least inject a change of mindset. Would it be enough to salvage the season?

It couldn't hurt.

Orgeron would make a great interim HC.

I don't think it could get any worse.

Depends on what you mean by "salvage". Certainly would be like getting an elephant off your chest, though.

None of our preseason goals will be met this year no matter what. We look like a 5 loss team at minimum. Season can't be salvaged.

I'll be honest. I wanted Miles gone last year and our offense is just boring, but I think getting rid of Miles tomorrow would destroy the teams mentality. Say what you will but Miles is like a father to these kids and they won't take lightly to him getting canned in the middle of the season.

The players understand that they're playing for a lame duck coach, which is why there is no sense of urgency.

At this point, what's there to lose? Just do it. Fire the man. He could've walked out gracefully last year with everyone patting him on the back. Instead he stayed one more year and has ruined this team that has more experience than any other LSU team I can remember in a very long time..

Hell yea. Wins some games. Open up offense. Show recruits the talent pool is worth joining.

we are in the damn hole already. What difference would it make? Take a chance with any damn body and get the ball rolling already. We could only get deeper in the hole with les or anybody else, but we KNOW LES and we don't know the next person. It's worth the chance.

It would salvage the energy and reignite the fan base with hope for a brighter future. Also, it will put LSU out front in finding a replacement.

No, in terms of chances to win the SECW. No QB and OL isn't going to change. In terms of fan enthusiasm, perhaps.

True, but I'm not sure I want EdO having a few emotional wins late in the season and a push for him to be named permanent like happened at SC

You do risk the USC situation though. O gets the team and fan base fired up, finishes 8-4 and now you have a "controversy" when you pass him over and go for the permanent solution. Players would be vocal in advocating for him, fans too. Plus, if you do that and don't consider him for HC, he probably gets offended and bolts for another job rather than possibly staying here under the new coach. Is it really worth that to possibly get the team into the Music City bowl?

I think it would do two things. First, the fan base would be reenegized. Tiger Stadium would become a much different place. Second, I think the team would play looser. No more playing for a man's job and the pressure that comes with it. Just go ball out!

This team isn't making it out of November alive. They lose four more games. Orgeron was intermin head coach at USC. He did well, players liked him and he wanted the job the AD at USC didn't want to give it to him. They offered him a coordinator position under new coach Helton, but he said no thank you and left the program.

It is critical for recruiting!

Right the ship now with the right person and keep most of our current commits.

Go into the recruiting season with no firm plans and the commits will go somewhere more stable.

LSU needs to show that the administration is committed to having a quality program.

And they need to do this ASAP before the commits start rethinking where they will go to school.
