... considering that only 2 of the last 12 national champions were National Seeds, maybe less focus should be spent on going all out late in the regular season and SECT, and more about keeping the team loose and rested; peaking in the Regionals/Supers.

This team and several other top teams seem to be mentally spent by the time the Supers get here. Amirite? Who's with me?

In a sea of stupid threads, this one stands out to me for its special brand of stupidity.

Can we shut Tiger Rant down for a week or so?
Can't imagine threads getting any worse, but I wouldn't put anything past this board.

You would be correct if there were such a thing as "mental currency". The bottom line is that it's more fun to win. Like Herm Edwards said, "You play to win the game. Hello!?"

"Staying loose", "peaking too soon" are mental abstracts that have no basis in the outcomes of the games.

1. Having a baseball team not try to win regular season baseball games is a really, really bad idea even for the Rant.

2. There are only 8 National Seeds out of 64 teams (1/8). 2/12 is 1/6, so a National Seed is still more likely to win a NC than a non-national seed.

3. Having a national seed in and of itself is pointless; the value in having a National Seed is getting to play more games at home; the stat that matters is what percentage of Super Regional Hosts win a National Championship, and it makes up more than 2 of the last 12 (just off the top of my head, the 2014 and 2015 Champions weren't national seeds but did host Supers).

I think LSU would have been more likely to make Omaha if they hadn't been a national seed.
This team needed a chip on its shoulder to have an edge.
