Wide open receivers, inability to defend the short passes and white was completely owned by treadwell and whoever he covered.

Despite all the offensive lapses, this game was winnable. I think the secondary quit minus Jamal Adams.

The secondary looks like 2008. The OL looks like 2009. The DL looks like 2013.

The worst of all worlds.

The secondary has been bad. It's the scheme. Bump and run with no WR jam, playing 7 yards off the LOS, it's just been bad. Steele is a disaster.

Just curious: when does Raymond start getting a piece of the blame? This isn't the first time DB's have looked this bad since he's been here.

Exactly. They've failed at doing very simple things. I don't know how can blame Steele when the DBs haven't improved at all this year.

I love how offense is never the players fault but defense no blame on scheme and players aren't excueting.
Steele is terrible. We got the players on D. It's the scheme. Watch people throw on us. They are wide open. It's a shame.

The fact that Ole Miss had completions with no defenders in sight tells me it's a scheme problem.

So was Chavis terrible in 2013 or the beginning of 2014? Maybe you guys should wake up and see that this defense has been falling apart every year since 2012. They don't have the talent they used to.

Same thing has been happening for years. 2013, 2014, etc.

4 catches for 58 yards by a 1st round draft pick is not getting owned. It is a helluva job! Secondary has had some breakdowns this year with miscommunications, but a lot of yards have been on the linebackers being slow to their responsibilities.

Not like this. I haven't seen these many blown coverages since 2008. There's about 5 every game.

There were barely any yesterday. The first play was a blown coverage but everything else the players were in position. Everyone got abused by their WR corps.

Truth. Early departures and bad recruiting?

There were quite a few. I actually wasn't even counting the first play. They had so many scoring drives, I couldn't tell you when and how without rewatching the game.

A lot of it was players completely failing to tackle or defend their man. Tre'Davious was in great position on one of Treadwell's TDs and did nothing. DJ1 was getting abused all day. It reminded me of 2014 Auburn with Rashard Robinson getting owned by Duke Williams and Coates.

A lot of it was also playing with too much cushion and getting lost in zone coverage. A lot of basic slants were uncovered as well as a couple of comeback routes. Just felt like the basics weren't happening. They were throwing at will on us.

Careful. The fanboys will be along shortly to tell you he's the best db coach in all of football

They have a ton of future NFL WRs and our zone coverages didn't get the job done when our guys couldn't match up man on man.

Chavis' secondary play always seemed to improve throughout the year because he called exclusively man coverage. Steele is trying to confuse QBs and it doesn't work when the DBs aren't making plays and the front 7 can't hold up to a sustained running game. Ole Miss got it done by running Kelly and it killed them all day.

It reminded me of the 2013 with Ole Miss having better QB and WR play and LSU having a worse offense.
