Bad playcalling and execution meets the #1 defense in all four major categories.

Certainly it's not all on JJ...

But I think he had to be yanked after the shovel pass

For sure if anybody else besides J2 does that shovel pass junk and immediately looks to blame the runner (Ware) they would have been pulled.

We've been one of the best/most successful teams around with the worst QB play for awhile now.

Glad (hope) that era is behind us.

A stubborn dumbass HC.

An unimaginative, bad OC.

A horrible QB.

Meets:

A very talented defense.

A very good opposing coaching staff.

Voila! The disaster some of us feared and all of us witnessed.

Would you have pulled JJ and given Lee at least one series?

Yeah. I'm over it, the future is bright ... that is true, but bottom line, the most disappointing thing is that we get THAT performance from a 4 yr, senior QB. Ala.'s QB was a soph. At the same time, the coaches did not set Jefferson up for success b/c in the first game, the Ala. defense had not really prepared to defend Jefferson, so he had some success. THIS game, they obviously prepared for Jefferson. They knew what plays LSU would run. The offensive coaches/Les did a very poor job of planning an offensive strategy, and play-calling, in this game. In a game of equals where the opponent has the psychological advantage, re-match mentality, you HAVE to bring something different to the table. LSU didn't.

I feel like Lee should have gotten a series. But that’s not why LSU lost the game. For anyone to put the blame on one person or one thing is totally unfair, and I hope nobody does that.

I also understand why Miles did not put Lee in the game.

I thought LSU would practice and call plays similar to the plays called for McCarron.

Bama put McCarron in position to makes plays, and he did that.

Agree completely. That's not the only reason, no question.

Here's where you lose me. There is absolutely no rationale, reasonable explanation as to why he did not. What would be the downside?

Never will I ever understand why he didn't go in. Miles could sit down and explain it to me in perfect detail and I KNOW that I would still think it was a horribly misguided decision.

Of course there is no guarantee that anything positive would have happened with Lee in there, but at the level of fail and ineptitude we were achieving, there should have been thoughts of Shep going in at QB just for something different.

I don't. He could not have done any worse. Jefferson was dropping snaps from center, falling down, just frazzled. Would Lee have done better? Who knows? Maybe, maybe not. One thing though, Miles was NOT wrong to not put Lee in the game for the reason that Lee "deserved" to play. Nobody "deserves" to play. You play the best players that give you the best chance to win. Jefferson was a basket case, in large part due to the lousy playcalling. Lee may not have fared any better, but I don't see how he could have done any worse.

How 'bout the beginning of the 2nd half? But certainly no later than the point you refer to.
