Women's basketball picked 7th in pre-season SEC poll...I think they finish higher

I think the media underestimates this team. They also didn't vote Raigyne Moncrief-Louis to the pre-season all-SEC team. She will be there for the post-season one, when it counts.
LSU has a very good nucleus with Moncrief (15.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and a school record 107 steals), Ayana Mitchell (8.1 pts, 5.4 reb.), and Chloe Jackson (13.1 points) to go with some good freshmen and returning big players who were injured last year. They will not be undersized this year and will be athletic. Potential Sweet 16-type team if everything falls into place, building on last year's return to the NCAA's.
Despite what the haters say, the program seems to be trending back up. They have to now show it on the floor where it counts.
Media poll:
1. South Carolina
2. Mississippi State
3. Missouri
4. Tennessee
5. Texas A&M
6. Kentucky
7. LSU
8. Georgia
9. Alabama
10. Auburn
11. Vanderbilt
12. Florida
13. Ole Miss
14. Arkansas

5-7 should be clumped together pretty close. Non-conference will tell us a lot because oddly LSU will be on the road lot.

Yeah...only 4 of 11 non-conference games will be at home. That kinda sucks and the 4 home games are gimmes. It just fell that the "home and home"s with Tulane and Little Rock are both on the road this year and the SEC-Big 12 game is on the road too. A trip to N. Colorado is puzzling....maybe its because Neubert is from Colorado??
Either way, if LSU can have a good record before SEC play, then their RPI should be sky high.
I think Kentucky and A&M are over-rated. I think Missouri is a legit #3 and I think #4 is up for grabs with Tennessee.
I hope some of the people who fell off of the Fargas bandwagon hop back on this year. I think we are going to be good and fun to watch.

I am cautiously optimistic, but do not know enough about what the other teams are bringing to the table to judge where we will be. Also, hoping that new bigs will be able to replace and improve on Hyder's loss.(??}
I do think that we have the potential to be better than last year.
We need to improve our outside shooting. We need to improve paint play on both offensive and defensive ends from our bigs. These have been issues holding the team back over the last few years.

Yeah I think We need to do better than that for what Nikki is getting paid. I think she's finally doing a bit better in recruiting but that took a bit too long IMHO.

Hopefully, there is enough talent to go along with Moncrief- Louis, so this team can finish higher than the media picks them pre-season.
Just hope the coaching staff makes some solid in game adjustments.

Hyder was a warrior, she just wasn't big. Only about 5'11.
Raven Farley is a freshman who is 6'4 and is expected to start...she is from NJ and can score and rebound. And Faustine Aifuwa who was hurt last year is expected to play a good bit. She is 6'5. Apparently she did well in the Italy tour and is practicing well.

I think this is the focus. Mitchell is 6'2 and will finally have some big help underneath.

I saw where Nikki said in an interview a few days ago that they would be a 3-point shooting team. Her niece Khayla Pointer, who is a freshman, apparently has good range. She may be the starting PG.

South Carolina is still above everyone else....they lost a lot from their championship team from last year, but should still be above everyone else. Mississippi St also lost a few key players, but they return some of their core that got them to the finals. Missouri is going to be very good...they return almost their entire team from last year, and I think they were 4th. They have one player who scored like 35 on LSU last year who is back.
Beyond those 3, LSU, Tennessee, A&M, Kentucky, and Georgia are the next tier and LSU can beat any of those teams on any given day.
The schedule works out well....everyone plays everyone else once and there are 3 teams that you play twice. LSU only catches SC, MIss St., and Mizzou once each. We play A&M, Alabama, and Auburn twice.
Big year for the program....I hope they are up to it.

She said Patterson had range and compared her game to Adrienne Webb but I doubt we'll be a 3 point shooting team. Hopefully just better than making 1 a game.

Yeah I didn't mean to imply that we would turn into the Warriors...I would just like to average like 3-4 makes a game. Maybe that will open the inside up a little.

They better finish higher than that or Nikki will be gone

I am concerned with post play, we should be a little better this season. Talent level still isn't very good. We need someone else to step up besides Moncrief. Jackson needs to continue to also carry the load. Every team will force LSU to take jump shots from the perimeter. If we can't make outside shots, we are in for a bad season
The 2018 class isn't ranked nationally either. I still don't understand why we can't recruit any top players anymore

I don't see LSU beating Kentucky or Tennessee. If Tennessee had actual coaching they would be an elite 8 team for sure. Talent isn't their problem. A&M is beatable, don't know very much about Georgia.

They lost DeShields...who was a great talent. I would be interested to see if this is "addition by subtraction" because apparently she was the ultimate head-case and team cancer.
Kentucky lost 2 All-SEC players in Epps and Akhator and their roster was thin last year. This year is a rebuild for them...but Mitchell is an elite coach. Georgia was young last year but figure to be better this year.
