Within a few days of the greatest natural disaster to strike the continental U. S. a traumatized LSU team left a campus turned into a morgue and a MASH unit and a dazed and stunned state to fly halfway across the country to play an emotional game for their fans. Mentally and physically spent they reached down for whatever was left and scored the winning touchdown in the waning seconds.

Some moments are special in sports. That one was really special.

Florida Logic:

We should've just played that game in BR because the storm was gone by saturday anyway

if gainesville were the center of this storms recovery effort that might be a halfway decent point

Theoretically that winning TD should have been ruled an incomplete pass.............

They had already moved the ASU game.

They did bump the Tenn game back to Monday night.

Oh, and btw...neither Rita nor Katrina were Cat 5 when they made landfall. I don't think Rita ever did hit that status.

Rita made landfall 150 miles to the west of Baton Rouge and we shifted the game to a Monday night.

Some claim. Even if he did does it take away what the team did that night.

Rita definitely made it category 5. Why downplay how strong those two storms were?

Rita was a5, and actually the 4th Atlantic storm in US history, Katrina was the 6th largest.

It really doesn't matter what it is at sea, it's how strong it is when it hits land. Rita was a Category 3 when it hit and it dropped in strength pretty quickly. That's not downplaying. A Cat 3 is still a heck of a storm - nothing to sneeze at.
