Foster's complete support of Emmert's vision and leadership at LSU-and the examples he made out of anyone who did not agree with and help support Emmert by removing them from the BOS after warning-allowed Emmert to do some good things.
But make no mistake, Emmert was allowed to succeed by former Governor Mike Foster. He had zero control or influence with the Board. Foster's belief in Emmert and his willingness to prove that support using his own appointing power as it related to the BOS is what changed its culture.
