With starter settled, do we get 2nd quarter or 2nd half playcalling for Etling?

No doubt about which was more productive and more fun to watch, but Miles gonna Miles.

I will lose my shite if we have all of that WR/TE motion in the first series. With Harris it was always toss dive, off-tackle, overthrow all out of the I w/ 2 WRs.

I wouldn't doubt seeing 2nd half BS again.

Miles probably isn't totally comfortable with DE yet, probably won't be til after Florida. Then DE will struggle against Bama for a bit and we'll see Harris come back in.
Same story different year.

Was the play calling really that bad in the second half?

Etling got pressure and couldn't get the ball to Dupre on the jump ball in time, but Dupre was running open. He was late getting the ball to Dupre on the INT but Dupre was open. The pressure on the pass to Guice forced him to sail it a tad but Guice was wide arse open. Dupre was wide open all alone on the last pass Etling threw that sailed.

Etling looked great in the 2nd quarter because the passes were completed. When they were dropped or weren't completed the play calling isn't always to blame. They were getting playmakers open, just have to get them the ball more efficiently.

ETA: Please don't take this as some sort of vote of confidence for Miles. Just pointing out the play calls were effective in the 2nd half if they're completed.

You've been beating this drum all week. Dupre has to help out on some of that. I watched the game again on tv and the pass to Guice was on the money. On the replay you can see Guice look for a saftey coming across before looking up for the ball. If he doesn't do that the ball is dropped right into his hands.

It would be nice to call that little trips out pattern to Chark when it's not 3rd & 4.

Oh, how we would love to have the second quarter Etling to play the whole game that way. It will never happen that way. If he lights it up and Tigers are on top, he will pull him and throw Harris.

Guice has said to the media multiple times that the miss was on his part. He tried to one hand it. He said he'll make up for it. The thing about that play is that Etling stepped up in the pocket and had to readjust his throw in mid stride because Pocic had gotten shoved back about 4 yards into the backfield. Etling basically had to just flick it out there and improvise. It was a damn good throw with all things considered. That in itself was a positive on that play.

I have beaten it to death, you're right. Whether or not it was on Etling, Dupre, or Guice doesn't really matter though. The point is that the play calls effectively got playmakers open and put players in a position to succeed. They were similar to the first half, but they just weren't complete. That is the biggest difference.

Agreed wholeheartedly. Honestly, any sort of roll out play to the right is infinitely better than the shite they pull with Harris rolling to the left. Drives me nuts with a RH QB.

Miles is gonna pull DE so fast your head will spin.
