With Harris complete composure, and ability to throw with accuracy...
Posted by Tiger Nation 84 on 9/13/15 at 9:26 am121
How much do you need to see Les miles? I mean the kid didnt make any mistakes, he wasnt shook at all from the noise, so why handcuff him totally? I think I saw us run into 10 man boxes last night, thats just moronic, it takes a real special coach to win the way we win with play calling. I mean real special... nothing but 4 and 5 star WRs and you have less that 100 yards passing to them, that is unacceptable... Time to look in the mirror Les miles, we could be steam rolling teams this year

Harris was composed, but he was innacurate on a lot of passes and showed a hitch on several tosses to Fournette. He is clearly the best we have and will (hopefully) improve as the season goes on, but he isn't ready to be "set free" yet.

I dont think that you get it. They need to trust him enough to throw some more passes, especially down the middle and on 1st or 2nd down. You have to make defenses respect your passing game or they just sell out to your run game.

This is absolutely true.
The easiest pass for a QB to complete is the post route which you saw Harris complete twice for TD's(one called back for penalty). The most pedestrian college QB can make those throws. A few of his other passes were very suspect and would have likely been picked off against a better team.
Tiger fans were believing the hype of Harris but Harris has yet to show much QB acumen in a game with victory on the line.
We only won that game because #7 is a beast and the best player in college football. The only blame I lie with Leslie is that he recruits athletic but very crappy QBs.
I think Harris improves at home against Auburn but expect more of the same through out the year. If Harris improves with experience we'll have a shot at the SEC... If Harris gives us more of the same then 3-4 losses likely.

the best way to handle a young QB is to let him throw at times when the defense isn't waiting on the throw. Throw on 1st down and down field, not laterally, if you want to make it easy on a young QB. That's what other coaches do.

He clearly knows the plays. He is still throwing a little high and going too deep when the first read is covered, but overall he is dang close. some dink and dunk would do this cat a world of good

Les did great last night, he wasn't going to hurt BH mentally and have him lose the game. It's a long season.

He had that chance when we were up by 8pts in the 4th but Harris decided to throw it down field in double coverage... And there was a couple of other throws earlier in the 2nd half where he chunked along the sidelines down the field and was way off the mark.

Yep. Rifling 50 yards down field rather than looking for something near the sticks

I think he's extremely close. His best pass he threw (even though called back) came off of a play-action. Having it called back may have killed his confidence a bit. I think with LF7, we need to see more play-action. It's mind blowing that MSU was selling out on the run and we never took advantage of it.
I will say this though, Harris' head was very, very much in it for the first half. He made a few checks at the line that lead to some good gains and made an extremely smart play when LF7 was held on a screen and he put it at his feet rather than trying to force it. Smart football. I think he'll improve now that he has actual game film of himself and can see where he went wrong.

I was sold when he called that TO with the play clock winding down. Usually we take a penalty there.
