If he is ready to play, why wouldnt we play him? He is one of our best safeties

Have to believe he isn't playing this season and will apply for a medical redshirt. Bower is the starter at field LB and probably a better match up on the edge.

Don't think he has played or had a red shirt year. So, he can just red shirt. O said they were discussing with he and his family.

Isn't Thompson like 225-230 now? I doubt he sees any time at safety at this point

He redshirted in 2014 after starting in 2013 because of a concussion that believe. He'd have to apply for a 6th year.

He already took a reshirt a couple years ago. He would need a 6th year waiver and that would mean not playing at all this season. Even then it's not guaranteed.
