LSU basketball doesn't have the pedigree for a #1 ranking and the conference prestige is shite. Only way they get to #1 is to win the NCAAT.

Football is going to have to start the season in the top ten to end up #1 at any point in the season, unless they win the natty.

If Mickey stays and we get Newman we could start off reasonably high in the top 25, but we will have to put in work to be ranked #1 at any point in the season.

Baseball has the pedigree. They probably start in the top 5 no matter what the team looks like next year. As long as they dont tank, that can reach #1.

They can go undefeated for a long stretch of the season

Why not start a little lower? I could realistically see all three teams ranked in the Top 5 at some point.

No. Basketball will do very well to crack the top 20.

First.. the academic year is what you go by. Meaning it won't start until football season. Football, basketball, then baseball.

Next if we go by 2015 like in the OP then basketball will not get to #1 (if they somehow do) in the short 2015 part of their schedule.

Raining on parades all up in this joint.

If we sign Malik, we will be a preseason top 10 team.
ETA: top 20 at worst
