Will Alex Bregman be promoted to SS for the Astros?

Tough break for Houston today as Correa tore a ligament in his thumb & is out 6-8 weeks.
Does Bregman slide over to SS?

Not sure, but it wouldn't be a " promotion."

IMO it makes sense to move him to SS and have Marwin man third base. We shall see, Marwin might play SS for a bit.

Lineup tonight still has him at the hot corner, Marwin at short. It'll probably stay that way, Marwin is a serviceable enough fielder to not need any shifts. In other words, it'd probably be a much smoother transition to have Marwin at short than if it were Marwin at third and sliding Bregman over from the spot he's started at for 120 games.
ETA: let me put it this way
Career starts at SS:
Bregman - 7
Marwin - 193
Career starts at 3B:
Bregman - 120
Marwin - 58
which position makes more sense for each?

Bergman is an mlb shortstop on most teams. I seriously doubt he'd have any trouble playing the position he's been playing and excelling at his entire life.

Today's lineup had Marwin at Short, Bregman still at third. Of course, this is within a couple hours of learning Correa's out until sometime September. I can definitely see Luhnow & Co. wanting to make a Bregman transition to short eventually, knowing his potential.
Maybe it's wishful thinking, but maybe this is the trick we needed to make Bregman at SS, Correa at 3B finally happen. USA and Puerto Rico had it right for each guy. Hell if Freddie Freeman can slide over to third after an injury to accommodate Matt Adams, I don't see why Correa couldn't do the same for Bregman.

Bregman moved to short when Correa bruised his hand earlier in the season. It was just for 1 game. He played great. Homered and made 2 awesome plays in the field.

It may be as simple as long term the astros think Bregman at third and Marwin at short is a better infield than bregman at short Marwin at third. If it were a week this thinking may be different but they have to look at it for 1-2 months what is the best option.

Not sure I understand this...

Bregman is at third tonight with Marwin at SS. Colin Moran called up from Fresno for depth.

I would move Bregman to SS, Guriel to 3rd and Marvin at first.

Playing Martin at SS and keeping everything else the same provides the least amount of upheaval. Bregman may get some spot starts at SS but he'll probably stay at 3B for most of the time Corrra is out.
But I could be wrong.

Why would that change anything? You put your best possible lineup on the field whether it be for one game 2 months.

Astros will likely have Bregman play SS some - Marwin G is having a great year batting, so they'll try to keep him in the lineup. He's a very good value as a Utility player - Gurriel's batting average is also climbing (.295 right now). Bregman's proved he can handle 3rd base - Astros are playing pretty well and Hinch may not want to monkey with the lineup _too_ much.
