The burning bridges thing could be said about him and FSU too. The program that made him HC where he won a national title breaking the SEC run.

True but perhaps he doesn't like the administration there and how things are handled. I know that before he left FSU he wanted LSU as his HC job that's why he stayed when Saban left. He liked it here a lot and was hoping to be the eventual HC at LSU. FSU offered him coach in waiting so he had no choice but to leave. He even talks about openly how much he loved it here in BR as FSU's HC. Obviously BR is still on his mind. LSU and the administration took care of him here and he still remembers that. I'm not saying FSU lacks love towards Fisher but we really don't know if he likes how they're handling things there. He's familiar with both programs.

Like I said, it wouldn't shock me to see him decide in the end FSU is best for him. That shouldn't burn bridges but based on how the rumors are swirling it doesn't even sound like LSU is prepared to get anyone else. That could be bad if we don't land him.

Maybe he considers LSU a better job could be for personal reasons just wanting a change of scenery for him and his family.

That could obviously be exactly what he's doing. Happens all the time.

He realizes he's got a better shot at being in the College Playoff scenario,
as a 1 loss SEC W team than a 1 loss ACC team.....

Unless he's as dumb as posters like you, he also realizes he has a much more likely chance of having 2 losses playing an SEC schedule

I doubt he comes here. He would have to face Saban every year. Why leave a soft Acc conference, where you could be top dog?

1. Coach at LSU (He's always liked it, rumored to have approached LSU about the job after Alabama loss)
2. Coach in the SEC West (toughest challenge in CFB) Bigger spotlight than in ACC
3. Fresh start for personal reasons (Divorce and LSU needs a new coach)
4. 9 years in Tallahassee (beginning to get tired of it? Possibly)
5. He considers the hunting environment better in LA than in Florida (Jimbo is a big hunter wildlife guy) read that somewhere this week.
6. They just gave the man 5 million dollars and contract extension...it would be down right selfish to pull this act to get more money out of FSU when they just showed him love 11 months ago.

Number 3 on your list should be 1 or 1a. There are personal issues that factor into this for Jimbo.

I've never seen fans that belittle the institution they're fans of so much in my life. LSU is a premier program in the premier division of the premier conference in America. The position itself might be lateral but I wouldn't totally call it a lateral move. On top of that we have a huge talent pool to recruit from with no other big school in state and we have amazing facilities to go along with the best stadium in all of college football. He seems to have really loved his time here. Imagine if he comes back with a great staff and sparks a ton of excitement around the program and gets tiger stadium back to its best on Saturday nights.

It's possible he knows he has a chance to do something great here and really make an even bigger name for himself if he comes here and gets it done. Coaches usually have huge egos and that would inflate his to the moon. Real winners and competitive spirits want to compete against the best at the highest level and that is an opportunity he would have here. It's not always just about the money folks.

The interest from Jimbo isn't driven by money - although Sexton will certainly do his part to benefit his client.

He's interested in LSU for multiple reasons - personal and professional.

And why wouldn't we match? You can do the what ifs all day.

Maybe Jimbo is an alpha?

Maybe he thinks the SEC is the best football conference?

Maybe he has already won the ACC, a National Title and been in the playoffs in the 3rd or 4th best conference and wants to be try the best?

I can't get inside his head but some people don't seek out the easiest path and do take the road less travelled.

See you must be a pro Les guy. Most competitive people want to play the best and beat the best, that's the SEC. Then there are guys like you who want to avoid all that and find the easiest way possible.

I think so. They can't afford a bad hire so they'll pay more for a proven name.
