Why won't PM use Bregman as the lead off guy?

My view IMHO --- Bregman does not swing and miss very much, Can really work the
Pitcher, knows the strike zone better than anyone on the roster, really bothers
a pitcher when he gets on, #1 in base stealing, if a pitcher try's to pitch around him --
He's on first--- steals second, Laird slaps him in to score, will get
the most at-bats per game:
My line-up:

Bregman
Laird
Hale
Scivicque
Chinea
Stevenson
Zardon/Paps
Fraley
Foster
Then--- Le Bon Temps Roule

I wouldn't make a change like this at this point in the season.

I think from here out with this lineup-- pitchers
will be reluctant to throw to him.-- A lot of walks = he will score a lot
more. JMHO

It just seems like Stevenson is a natural leadoff hitter. I'm not sure why he hasn't been put there as of yet..

because, for some reason, he does not excel there

Jumping into the leadoff spot means he would totally have to change his approach at the plate. It could possibly throw him off his game.

This ain't gonna happen at this point in the season....plus based on your lineup it appears you like Papierski at the plate versus righties over Sciambra....I can't really take that seriously especially at this point in the season.

I think he could and should. Let Bregman leadoff and cause havoc on the basepaths. Put Chinea in the 3 hole and let him drive in runs in bunches like he has all year.

Everybody needs to stop second guessing, it's working so far

...because it could have negative consequences. Any lineup change should be tested prior to this point if at all possible. Tinkering should be over with. That was the reason for my comments.

However, I also don't think moving Bregman out of the 3 slot would be a positive move.

that's a fair point...but, to me, his approach is already that of a lead off hitter so there wouldn't be much to think about.

I am just anti sciambra at lead off. he needs to be at the bottom of the lineup to see more fast balls

I also would not make this type of change--Bregman has some power & seems better suited to bat 2nd or 3rd, like he has been doing virtually all season.

I'm not sure Sciambra is the optimal lead off guy either....although I'm not sure this team has an "optimal" lead off guy.

All you Bregman at lead off guys....he hasn't exactly taken the cover off the ball in the last 2 weeks.
