Why were the paid parking lots closed at 10:30am yesterday?

Got on campus at 10:30 am and they said the lots were closed and full which was total bullshite. Especially for an 8pm game! I had friends holding us a spot in the paid area at their tailgate site and said there were a ton of spaces on the street to park. We finally parked in a free area not too far away and when we got in the paid area there were places to,park all over the place!

All of the empty spaces you saw were being held for friends.The empty spaces were paid for so technically they were full.

I heard something about this yesterday. Something about them being understaffed to properly take money at the barriers etc. Pure mismanagement.

They apparently sell a fixed number of paid passes. Once it reaches that number, no matter availability. It closes.

Bingo! And 10:30 is way too late to arrive and expect a spot. Normally full by 9:30. It'll be 7:30 for Bama

They were actually closed at Highland and S. Stadium at 9:30 which is total bullshite. They usually close it at noon for 6pm games. Even the bigger ones. Campus wasn't full as we had open spots all around our area.

It has nothing to do with time or spots available by you. It has to do with the number of passes sold. They obviously undersell them so that you don't have someone buying one and then not having a spot.
I know a tailgate near us uses an overnight decal to basically hold a spot and then refill it with another vehicle in the morning. So that's 2 passes sold but only one spot taken.

It's never been shutdown that early since they started the pay per game parking. Not for any game.

Correct! I've wondered if handicap spaces are included in total or excluded. That could account for open spots. We park near Memorial Tower and handicap spaces are used like normal spots. No towing.

I paid and got in after 10 in 2014 so not in all locations.
