Why ULL/USL/Southwestern Louisiana Institute is annoying....

I was reading their game notes for tomorrow's basketball game, and ran across this "note"
WE ARE LOUISIANA
In all references to our institution please use Louisiana for first reference and UL for
abbreviations. The abbreviation "ULL" is NOT an acceptable use of our name.
Dumbasses. Will they ever learn?
ETA: They also refer to the building in which they play as the CAJUNDOME...all caps...
The BIG EAST called and was pissed that the CAJUNDOME was trying to copy them.

Who cares what they call themselves???? Why does it bother you?
If they want to be called "Louisiana" then that is fine. Schools all over the nation do that.

The way most states university systems are laid out, you have a flagship school in each system. In this case, UL-L is the flagship in the University of Louisiana system, which is why it doesn't need the city as a qualifier, just like LSU is the flagship school in the Louisiana State system.

I always said that they should have just changed to University of South Louisiana. Wouldn't have cost so much, still would be USL, which there is no other.
And they would have been closer linked to the 70% of Louisiana that lives in South Louisiana..not to mention the Cajuns mascot thing!
Plus, I thought by law they had to use ULL and have lafayette somewhere on their logo or uniforms, like the small lafayette on back of baseball hats and at very top of basketball jersey.
or like this one from their own website!!!

After all, the is an LSU-Shreveport, LSU-Alexandria, etc....
Texas is officially "University of Texas-Austin" but people just say Texas. If referring to University of Texas-San Antonio, then yes, people use the qualifier.

Yes, that is the part that I find humorous. The official university website says "University of Louisiana at Lafayette", yet their PR honks insist on UL or Louisiana. It is almost like the right hand does not know what the left is doing.

insecurity, which is ridiculous because ULL isn't going to challenge LSU in football or take over as the flagship regardless of what they call themselves. other public universities improving only helps the state, LSU will always be the top dog

USC is a private school you idget.
It has nothing to do with any state funded university system.

I'm of the belief that they can call themselves whatever the heck the want. It doesn't really affect me one way or the other. However, they would be at the way bottom of that list you just mentioned maybe with the exception of Montana....IMO

they are ULL. and I attend ULM. If they get away with being UL than that makes it look like ULM is a sub-school of ULL which it is not. they will not and should not be known as Louisiana or UL.
If i was them i wouldnt want it anyway. because when people from outside the state look at and see that ULM beat UL in football or anything else its gonna look like they got beat by their sub school. There is a reason Texas dosent play UT-A or UT-SA or any of their other subschools.
