Florida was told by the S.E.C. you can NOT be considered for the s.e.c. championship game if you did NOT play 8 s.e.c. games. This is why the deal got done and Why foley was pissed.

I believe the S.E.C. thanked Florida for working to make it happen, since they didn't work with anyone to begin with.

Foley is pissed with LSU because we held the cards and would not concede to his terms. He lost his patsy before Florida State (big rival), he's playing three out of last four on the road. If you count the cocktail party as a travel game it's 4 out of five.

The only part of all this I disagreed with lsu on was not willing to give up the open date before bama. However, in the end, lsu handled this as good as you could expect. Once the game was not played last week, there wasn't going to be a perfect scenario for either team.

I don't think it will happen, however, if lsu runs the table from here on out, they play for all the marbles. They will have beaten a ranked ole miss, ranked bama, ranked florida, ranked atm, possibly ranked Arkansas, and ranked opponent in the sec championship game. And they wont have to deal with a coaching change.

Florida will likely go 3-1 in this next 4 game stretch, at worst 2-2 so they will likely be ranked by our game.

How was this not made public before yesterday? There were 6,457 threads on this board debating how the divisions would be settled. All of our local media were debating it. And then yesterday we find this out. Thanks SEC!!

Florida should have been told that they were being charged with a FORFEIT. This is what LSU should have demanded. Instead, LSU takes it up the butt for the good ole SEC. Aleva coming out Monday acting like John Wayne was part of the script to get LSU fans thinking we somehow "won" something out of this as Florida got EVERYTHING they wanted, as did Alabama, now that LSU has to suffer the consequences of a tougher end stretch to this season and one less home game in the conference NEXT season. This was a first class shafting of LSU by the SEC on behalf of their darlings in Florida and Alabama.

Sankey should've made this clear to Foley last week, and I really don't think he did. Had Foley and McElwain known this, I believe we would've played the game Sunday or Monday. Just as we didn't want 3 road SEC games in a row, you know Florida didn't want that, and they now play LSU on the road the week before FSU, instead of Presbyterian at home.

I swear, if I hear this one more time I'm going to drown a kitten...

If you've ever been to a "neutral" game in NRG you would know that it is basically a home game (if we aren't playing a team inside of Texas). Stop whining, at least it got done and there's no more shadow hanging over the entire rest of the season. Stop bitching. Thanks.

What SEC game are we playing in NRG next year?

I agree. In the end it was a non-issue, as Georgia (rightly so) would not budge on moving the cocktail party anyway.

Sankey said that he personally saw the devastation to Florida players, so sankey believes Florida was working with him from the beginning.

SEC laughs at us and we move on without the Florida game scheduled. Not the best plan of attack.

So Florida wanted to lose 2 home games this season?

This post was so poor and just not well thought out, at all.

The SEC should have stepped in and made this game happen Sunday or Monday. They failed and were getting beat up in the press. Florida played them and they know it. I was on the campus Saturday, Beautiful with hardly a mud puddle anywhere. Other games were played in Florida that day, so I don't buy the whole security thing.

Not even close

Lets think outside this years box, shall we? LSU is a 2 loss team because we couldn't get out of our own way and kept Leslie 'I don't give a frick' Miles. So to accommodate this 2-loss team we now get to host Fla, so that we can hope by some miracle get to the SECCG

But next year Coach Herman (or insert your coach of choice) with a much improved offensive system, and a much improved shot at the SECCG, now loses a home SEC game in the run up to a possible playoff

So the pansies on here screaming about a 2-loss team getting hosed, just traded to possibly getting an undefeated team hosed next year instead

Yeah, that's the ticket

Chicken (and a couple of others) were looking at for such rules a couple days ago. Those posts got lost in the shuffle but in a different section than the "win% rule" there was a requirement that teams play 8 conference games. I'm assuming this is the rule that was cited.

I saw a couple of media posts/articles that said [paraphrasing] that basically LSU caved because they were told about not being eligible. So it was a little spin going on there, they acted like Sankey cracked down on LSU. The same applied to UF, but they were choosing not to point that out. Error by omission for some of them.

Exactly, I had never heard of this either. Is it in the SEC rule-book, or a new ruling made by Sankey?
