Because there is no advantage derived from not saying Etling is the starter.

One, we run the same things.

Two, everyone has film on Harris

Three, everyone knows Etling is the starter

Four, State is one of the few teams that has TWO years of video on Harris against them, let's just say, they are familiar with what he does.

Five, preparation for LSU is the same regardless of who the qb is.

Because he never does stuff like that.

Nothing Les does is effective, unless we're discussing recruiting.

because it allows our team to unite behind the starter, and allows the starter to begin mentally preparing to start on Saturday. The longer he knows he's the starter, the better.

It's more of a confidence/mental issue for our team instead of trying to psych out MSU. Besides, our offense is the same regardless of whether it's Harris or Etling.

Thank you...somebody gets it. It's not like Harris brings an element to the offense that needs extra attention. One thing I don't understand about Miles is his habit to continue to play guys that are struggling. This team is entirely to deep to not give the next man the opportunity to prove himself.

No reason he should announce his starter.

No reason to tell the fans he has to tell the team first either except, Les has to be Les.

He needs to tell the team in a closed meeting that Etling is the starter. I don't care if tells the media.

even that isn't effective if we look at his love for running qb for his offense that requires a qb be a pocket passer.

The team and the QBs are being told in the meeting at 1:30 so that isn't an issue. The only question is whether he then makes a public announcement during the week or tries to keep it as some kind of classified info.

I am no miles fan but he doesn't have to say anything about who will start. I have no problem with it.

Bye the same token, there is no advantage to naming him the starter either.

MSU will prepare for both QBs.

So long as whoever the starter is takes the 1st team reps and knows he will start, I don't care who he else he tells.

True...I guess I was just going by the rankings. A ton of prospects Miles has reeled in over the years have not panned out. This happens at every major university, but it does, in my opinion, seem to happen more at LSU and with Les than at others.

Because it's what leaders do. He sure had Harris named the starter before Monday of our first game. Why is that?

Nothing will change between that press conference and the starter of practice today. So, who is it? You can always make a change. But to not answer means you don't know what the frick to do.

Give Etling a full go. One week of prep and no doubt the starter. At least then you know what your working with between the 2.
We have all the tape we need on Harris, he's not changing after 3 years.

He shouldn't. He should let them battle all week too..

Some will say by naming the starter right away it gives your team an identity and it gives the guy confidence. Sumlin did this with Kyle Allen, but it didn't seem to work or matter.

this is such bullshite

look, he;s gonna tell the team first. Then he will tell us. And that's ok. I'm all aboard the Fire Miles Train myself, but let's focus on the real issues, not something like this.

For all of Miles sunshine pumpers saying he's doing this for a coaching edge think again. He named Harris the starter last year a week before the McNeese game.

You shouldn't name your starter until game time, but in the case of this week, its certainly not because Miles is a wizard of strategy.
