Why not play Etling, Scott and one of the freshman vs BYU?

Bama has done it the last two years. It works at finding g your best option. Remember Harris was a great practice qb

Edit: it's BYU people

Its possible, its just nice to finally have an OC who can adapt to his personnel and will be allowed to do so

Who downvotes this? People complain about Miles then refuse to change just like him

I trust coach o will actually play the best player. Les miles didn't.

It is a good idea to get backups some playing time in rent a win games

That's the point. You can't tell who the better player is in practice

I like where your head is at, but BYU is not one of those teams you want to give confidence early in the game.

I doubt I'd call opening week a rent a win, but one of the biggest problems in the last few years has been not giving backups more playing time in the actual rent a wins, killing any further development. Hopefully that changes.

Why not wait and see how they approach it.

Les Miles usually played the best player if there was a clear difference. Only exception I can think of is DJ Welter, and that was probably John Chavis's fault.

Miles' weakness was in-game coaching and strategy.

Granted, we should beat BYU convincingly, but you want to make sure you get the win first rather than letting everyone play. This isn't pop Warner.

Do you have a prescription for this medication you're on?

BYU is far from a rent-a-win. If we go in there thinking that it's practice, we might well get our arses kicked.

That being said, I think it's a good idea to try different quarterbacks if the first one is not getting it done. Nick Saban does this all the time.

Because it's an awful idea. BYU is not a "rent-a-win" by any stretch of the imagination. It's going to be a tougher game then you think.

Coach O is a big upgrade from what's his name, but he's not the end-all. Plenty of work to do. I'm officially "Neutral" on Canada.

You're resurrecting old, false rumors that died a long time ago. Elite high school talent loved coming to LSU because they knew they could see the field right away.

2005 called and wants its rumors back.

No downvote here. Could put packages in for your pocket passer (Etling) and Dual threat guy(s). Try them out early in the season. Somebody is going to have to take snaps to get ready for 2018. I don't know about putting 3 guys on the field though.
