If you do your own research you'll find that he has some of the best overall numbers (Pro day and NFL combine combined together) than any other RB in the draft. 4.4 40 yd dash; 25 reps on bench press; 130 broad jump; 39.5 inch vertical; 4.2 20 yd shuttle.

Must be lack of tape because he was in an offense that used so many backs? Or did he not do well in drills or what? Cuz those numbers are by far some of the best combined numbers in this draft.

Fumbles, lack of versatility in terms of blocking/catching out of the backfield

Because he's a weight room stud but it doesn't translate to on the field. His numbers are Trent Richardson type of numbers, but him on the field was just a guy that gets 5 carries on outside runs. Weight room freak doesn't mean you're a stud on the field. And what they do on the field speaks louder than what they do at a combine.

I'm not going to pretend to be an analyst, but it seemed like Ford's "weakness" was yards after contact. For being as strong as he is, it seemed he went down quicker than expected. IDK. It's not a knock, the guy is a physical freak and a good guy and I wish him well.

He had fumbles not fumble issues dude. Adrian Peterson had fumbling issues. Ford just has a couple fumbles in his career even though some of them hurt LSU bad.

If he was on a college depth chart behind 4 other Rbs, the NFL might not love him

Blue,Ware, Hill, Hillard were all ahead of him.

Being a combine freak doesnt equal good football player. Vernon Gholston was a great example of this.

Ford just has very little football skill. We ran like 2 different plays with him his entire career here because he didn't want to run between the tackles, had no moves, and didn't like contact (despite being so big).

Yeah I understand that but man the guy puts up great combine and gym numbers. It's a wonder that someone cant get them to translate to the field ya know

There are freaks in every gym across America that would put up good numbers for the combine and be a beast in the weight room. Doesn't make you a football player at all. Ford didn't really have the football mindset, which is what makes a player IMO. He would run straight up and on a straight line, couldn't move side to side, and wasn't physical. All his freak attributes go right out the window when he steps on the field except for his straight line speed. And in football, you rarely run in a straight line.

That said, I think someone will give him a shot in the 7th. He could be a decent return guy.

I just meant get a coach to get "more out of him" kinda thing. But yeah it should just translate. But I figured that was the prob. Just can put up good "gym numbers" but lacks good tape!

I'm sure the coaches gave him every opportunity and tried to get the best out of him. I just don't think he had the football mindset. He was soft on the field and you can't change a soft player into a tough physical guy. It's his mindset.

This seems overly precise.

maybe he gets drafted, maybe not. My money is on Ware and he showed promise his freshman year, but it seemed like he just got bigger and lost his vision as his career went on.

Two things that will for sure help Ware in his drafting is the fact that he is a really good blocker and a great receiver out the backfield or down the field. If Ware ran at least in the 4.5 range(wont happen) he could have been as early as 4th round given his skill set as a RB. I see him as a early 6th or 7th round prospect, but some teams have upwards of 3-4 picks in the 5th and 6th rounds combined so he could be taken late fifth.

he's a straight ahead runner who happens to run straight to the sideline.

I loved Michael Ford but he took every carry directly to the sideline.

Not many NFL teams are willing to run toss sweep plays on every offensive play

He's bad when blocking in pass protection. Doesn't seem to even make an attempt. Wonder he didn't get one of our QBs killed.

Hope he does well in the NFL but he'll need to block on passing plays or he'll only be in the NFL long enough for a cup of coffee.

You may want to look up Fords career stats and compare to others who play or have played at LSU. That career YPC number is a lot closer to 6 than 5.

His first year and a half he didn't play then for half a season he gained some good yardage running the option, then his 3rd year he returned kicks

There are very few RB's who are difference makers in the NFL, there are thousands that can receive a handoff and gain a few yards.
