Why is everyone melting over yesterday? It's clear LSU was vanilla

I don't post much on the rant because the pumpers are usually too irrational and I am a known negatiger and think Miles is a slight bit on the slow side making game time decisions. With that said...

Yesterday was fine. You know why we sucked, relatively speaking? Because our boys knew they were playing the last ranked defense in the country, one of the worst teams in the county. Our coaches knew it as well so they were trying to work out kinks in the passing game so we wouldn't be a one man show when we FINALLY play a half-way decent opponent (our schedule is pretty soft this year apparently).

So finally Miles does what we always beg him to do: use a cream puff for practicing the passing game and everyone whines about it. Who cares? It was Eastern Michigan. Look we're good this year but we are the same LSU we've always been. Miles is as good as he is going to get. Expect a few bone-headed losses and some great wins and enjoy LSU football. It's not that big of a deal. The players were probably slightly hungover anyway. There wasn't really that much need for preparation for this cream puff game.

Oh, ok. That explains why our receivers dropped all those balls

I actually agree with Les practicing the passing game. But, the problem is, it was bad......really bad.

Our receivers dropped balls because their head wasn't in the game. It was a cake walk and they knew we could win at any time. You ever zone out because of boredome as a fan? Now imagine doing that as a receiver.

It seems like most everyone was satisfied with the first half gameplan. Just disappointed we couldn't execute it better. Also most agree we had to go back to ground and pound in second half to "assure victory."

Well then you go to the bench for somebody who is interested in playing.

Yeah, we didn't want to show teams the passing plays we can actually execute. You're onto something here.

A surprising and welcome voice of reason.

It was a scrimmage. So what if the coaches and players didn't go full-intensity in preparation or during the game?

According to multiple sunshine pumpers, the team problems are the result of bad fans.

No excuse! You think Saban would allow that to happen?

While I agree that the criticism is over the top, the effort and play given by the wide receivers in that game was simply unacceptable. I like how Miles handled it in the post-game presser... they take their reps for granted.

He sent a strong message to them in the second half of that game and in his comments afterward. If you're not going to give your maximum effort and if you're not going to catch the ball when it hits you in the hands, I'll give it to the guy averaging over 10 ypc.

Yeah it was great to practice passing but bad that it wasn't better by now. And it really should be better.

Yeah, no serious injuries and we didn't lose. That's the most important thing to come out of last night. Are the drops and lapses in defense concerning? Sure. But I'm not making it an indictment on this team. Anyone that does is being silly.

The reason is simple. NOBODY in college football plays down to a team's level like a Les Miles coached team. It's frustrating that we can't blow out teams and get our weaknesses corrected and get reps for our younger players. Unfortunately after a decade of hoping it will change, i have run out of wishful thinking. Les is a great man and outstanding representative our our school. He is also an average to slightly below average coach that cannot hide his coaching deficiancies. Anyone that doesn't believe this will cost us soon is fooling themselves. 10-2 or 9-3 is his absolute best and the reality is, that's not so bad.

Just curious... How many college football teams do you follow as closely as LSU? Did you watch any other games yesterday?
