Starts with D

It will not be the best D in the country but very strong and hard to run on - front 7 rotation looking good and I think with #5 the strength of the team

Moving the chains on the O side of things

We have seen 3 to 4 years of 3 and out way to much and I think what Canada brings is a mind set of moving the chains. Will we see 20 to 30 yard passing down the field - sure hope so but the mix of what he seems to do in the short game is amazing after watching many of his games called at Pitt

can't wait

My only concern is the O line and unfortunately it's a big concern. Its pretty rare to go through a season without at least one O lineman going down and it appears we can't afford that. Maybe we luck out and stay injury free up front though.

This years success hinges on how well the o line plays and how healthy they can stay. 1 or 2 bad injuries on the line could sink the season.

20-30 yards down the field?

his pitt offenses were anything but the deep passing game. it's about moving chains, misdirection and pre snap movement. keep your defense off the field and let the play calling create big plays by constant confusion.

everyone is running uptempto spread option and Canada us just moving all eligible players in the back field pre snap to completely frick up a defense's gap responsibility.

there won't be a lot of downfield passing

but there will be a lot of yards

I have us at 9-3 but I think that is because of O Line depth, New OF, and lots of studs lost on D.

we finish with a tip 10 D and a top 30 O.

we lose a few 27-24 or 24-20 games but we put up a lot of points between them.

Geaux Tigers!!

Right now I am optimistic the D CAN be the top D in the country. Don't sleep on these young guys like Delpit, Chiasson, and a slew of other frosh and sophs.

CEO is the one calling for some deeper routes

Of course we will be a move the chains bunch but a 30 to 40 yard hit from time to time would keep the dogs honest (Bama)

hey jackass

Starts with D - yep

OL is definitely a concern. However, with Canada's offense, I don't think OL will be in protection mode that often where they can get beat by more experience. I think as long as they play smart, follow their assignments, and keep the laundry off the field, we'll be fine.

It's not like they have to protect Mettenberger in the pocket. Completely different offense.

Keep in mind, Pitt had a terrible OL, imo.

#1 We're still very talented

#2 Our Defensive coordinator is one of the best in the business

#3 I think our Offensive Coordinator is going to give us a better chance at having a really good offense than any other season since 2007... I think

Now for the negative
#1 We're very thin on the OLine. Too many departures and uncertainties. One injury and a walk on is on the 2 deep. This should be a GREAT CONCERN to everyone.

#2 Will the OLine even be good enough to block the upper echelon teams we'll play???

#3 Will Etling be better than last year? We think Canada will improve him and put him into better situations.

#4 If Etling goes down with injury, even for a few series in one game, who will be the back-up? And will said back-up be good enough to help us win that game?

#5 Lots of new faces on defense. Linebackers and in the secondary. Very inexperienced.

I've got us at 10 and 3 or 9 and 4. Bowl game included.

Solid post. Upvote.

ETA: With an offense that give us a better chance at winning may come some squeakers at the end, where we may not have had that chance in the past. I am putting hope in an offense I have not seen from our Tigers, but how else will you be able to enjoy watching them play?

If we finish with a top 10 defense and a top 30 offense, I don't see us losing more than 2 games.

At the bare minimum, I think we will be of the top defenses in the nation, with a possibility of being the best. D line is deep and talented. Experience and talent in the LB core. Talented and experience in the starting corners and some experience along with a lot of talent at safety.

with you

If you are right and we have the Best D in the land

After we beat the Gators it is on !!!

Right now I will be happy with a solid win over a always tough BYU. Utah and BYU play some good football !

No it's not. It's quite common for offensive lines to stay together for the entire year with no major injuries.

Offensive linemen are the least injury prone

False! Where is this coming from? Our linebackers are:
Key - 3rd year
Devin White - 2nd year, but looked great against top competition last year
Donnie Alexander - 4th year
Corey Thompson - 6th year

Our secondary is:
Toliver - 3rd year
Paris - 4th year
Battle - 4th year
Donte - 3rd year

This is an EXTREMELY experienced back 8! It is joined to an EXTREMELY experienced front 3. In short, this defense is loaded with experience.

Now, it could be that a freshman or two fights into the mix, but that means he's a stud with a good head on his shoulders. We don't need to play inexperienced guys.

OLine and QB play.

It's that simple.

Those are two MAJOR question marks.
