It's Saturday night.
It's Deaf Valley.
It's the Voodoo.
It's Les Miles.
It's those four notes.
It's Calling Baton Rouge.
It's feeling the noise in your chest.
It's sore throats for a week.
It's hearing "Chinese Bandits" after another 3 and out.
It's T-I-G-E-R-S after another 6 points.
It's earthquakes.
It's haunted.
It is deafening.
It is the sun finding it's home in the western sky and it being Saturday night in Death Valley.

Holy mess I'm pumped. I feel the tension in my chest, and I love it.

He ain't wrong. It was deaf like the deaf dome as well. All the national idiots couldn't get it right and probably confused it with a different school and it never got straightened out.

you laugh, many, if not most Cajuns didn't pronounce the th sound. thirteen became terteen for example. so I can certainly see the th sound in death valley becoming detvalley and others thought they were saying deaf valley.

Correct.

There was a gas station across the street from the Varsity in the mid 80's with a sign that said "Deaf Valley Shell".

It was never deaf valley. I started going to games in 1958 (I was four), followed LSU football all my life, and I NEVER heard of Tiger Stadium being called deaf valley until the last few years. Never.

Then again, some people think the old LSU cheer was, "Hot boudin, cold couscous....."

Sorry. Was never deaf valley, even if some guy at the service station got it wrong. And I'm glad. Deaf valley would have been really, really lame.
