I know a lot of people say it is because of the traffic, but in reality the games are taking too damn long. It took almost 2 hours to make it to halftime last night. Even I, who stays until the alma mater is played at the end, was getting very bored of all the TV timeouts, coaches timeouts, etc.

Yep. I stay to the end but get very frustrated with how slow the game moves.

Everything you said is true but it's killing the lore of Tiger Stadium

Guess 28 hours a year inside that stadium is just too much to ask

Most people go to the games to be entertained (not to "support the team" or whatever cute phrase you want to use). If it's not the most entertaining thing to do at that moment in time, they will leave.

I remember watching the A&M vs. Tenn. game a couple weeks ago. I think it took almost 3 hours to play the first half. The game took over 5 hours to play. It was ridiculous.

I sat close to the student section last night and just laughed as all the clowns started to leave at halftime. Were we gonna win? Probably. But Jesus, it was a tie game for Christ's sake.

I think the majority of people are getting old and they are used to their comforts: Recliner, HDTV, fast wifi/cell signal, bathrooms without a line, etc. If the game is exciting, they forget about those things, if it's long and not exciting, they will head for the exits. Also when policy was more lax and you could sneak the booze in easier, people were able to forget they were bored or uncomfortable. I really miss the strong smell of bourbon in Tiger Stadium.

agree completely...I know I will be getting home from night games between 2 and 3 AM and accept that as a part of the deal. However, I find myself becoming a lot less patient with sitting there for 10 or 15 minutes at a stretch while tv commercials are being played. kinda makes me long for the good old days of no tv.

Traffic/parking
Length of game
Prices of concessions
Lack of alcohol
Lines to use the bathroom
A neutered Tiger Band being replaced with piped-in music

Kinda embarrassing to see a half empty stadium in the 3rd quarter on TV. I can't make all of the games, just saying. Not like it use to be.

Perhaps LSU could do more to keep them in their seats. Brain dead head coaches aside, why are folks so eager to cut out?

I have left games early the last 25 years. When I was at LSU the traffic leaving was a slight annoyance but it now a real pain. My parent live in Lafayette. When we go to games we typically wait until mid to late 4th quarter or when the game is decided to leave. Getting a jump on the exiting traffic is a huge deal. I know others leave for other reasons but that's mine.

You do realize that LSU is literally the worst home fanbase in the country among major teams now, don't you? You don't see fans of other teams leaving like this.

The problem is Louisiana and LSU fans. I'll defend both to outsiders, but if we are talking amongst ourselves, we have to admit that there are a bunch of spoiled, lazy, entitled people who want to eat and drink and don't want to be inconvenienced. Now, are they good people? By and large, yes. Have a hurricane on flood and they'll go to work and help you. But, Saturday night in Tiger Stadium is no longer a priority. It is dead.

RIP Tiger Stadium.

Maybe it will be resurrected this season. Big games against Ole Miss, Alabama, and Florida. There is a chance for redemption.

It has a lot to do with the TV timeouts. That's the one thing the NFL does right, is try to complete a game in 3 hours.

you aren't looking at this like a normal person. people come to campus and the stadium to have a good time. If the game isn't as enjoyable as another thing they could be doing, they will leave. It's common sense.

Well that's just not true at all. There have been hundreds of articles written about the dying game day experience.

Its society as a whole and wanting to get to something more entertaining. 30% of the people at that game are women who could give two shits about football. Its just the cool place to be, until it isn't.

There is no way to fix it TBH. Maybe you can keep some people there with alcohol and improving the traffic.

Unsubstantiated statement seems like a bit much.

At the game Saturday, I heard a guy tell his buddy as the first half ended, "We suck - let's go"
