to a Texas site?
Next year BYU, year after that Miami. And please don't give me the recruiting excuse. When was the last time we had a top tier non conference opponent at home?

Doesn't Houston have more alumni than Louisiana?

OK fine. I'm on board for LSU vs McNeese in that Houston stadium

Wouldn't make much sense to play Kansas, McNeese, or Middle Tenn st at a neutral site would it?

TV has become big in making these matchups...it's just the way it is so deal with it

If the game was Tiger Stadium it would still be on national TV

They'll probably cancel that game like they cancelled that series with OU that was supposed to take place in 2018 and 2019. I believe they pushed it back to 2028...seriously...pretty laughable really.

Exactly. It was the 7th highest viewed game of the entire year (Over 7 million). Bama-LSU was the highest at 10+ million.

Ohio State - Michigan only got 5 million.

Bottom line is that there was no way we get a home and home with these other schools. They don't want to play us in Tiger Stadium.

I would not hold my breath on the TX home/home series OR any of the others scheduled decades into the future.
Aleva will prob. use the excuse that we have lost too much $ on the recently "lost" home games and opt for yet more neutral site games !

LSU makes the same on the TV contract regardless, so that's not the issue. The real draw is that if LSU plays Wisconsin in 2016 and BYU in 2017, they get 2.5-3 million per game guaranteed. If they did a home and home with Wisconsin, then we get the normal home gate revenue but virtually nothing on the away trip. That's why home and homes are being phased out and one-offs in kickoff games are the new rage.

Significantly more $$$
More likely to play a better team than a home and home
More/better tickets for our fans than a home and home
Exposure/recruiting probably is a minor benefit that doesn't really play in the decision. I'd say it's 90% about the money

What is the home revenue for a big game. If it is double why is it beneficial?

According to an Advocate article, last year ticket revenue for the year was $35 million. Add in parking and concessions and subtract operating expenses, and I'm not sure you can say that LSU would make near 6 mil a game.
