Why do they guard the purple seats at the box?

Just wondering if anybody knew the real reason why they won't let anybody sit in those seats even when it's completely obvious those seats aren't going to be used during a game? They wouldn't even let me walk down behind home plate to take pictures AN HOUR before the first pitch of the ULL game a couple of weeks ago.
I'm sure those people pay a nice price of them, considering they give you access to the champions club and all, but is there really a reason to guard it like Fort Knox?

Because they were told to by someone higher in power than themselves. I know what you are talking about, I tried to sit in them after the ULL rain delay, when there was no one else in that section. They kicked us out along with a few other folks. Over the course of the game, the section had zero people after the delay.

My wife's boss has 4 tickets right above the third base dugout. He says that the other 4 seats in his row have never had anybody sit in them all year, and he's made every single game. And yet, even as a ticket holder himself, he can't ask any of his friends in the green seats to come sit by him because the marshals won't allow it. That's just a really stupid overreaction to me.

Yeah it is kind of rediculous. I sat in the purple sets for one of the games. Everytime I got up then went back to my seat, they made me show them my ticket. That gets old pretty quick and is a little overboard.

Hell, even during the delay of the ULL game, me and a friend were just sitting in those seats trying to eat some concessions before going back to our seats and Barney fife made us move. Mind you the game is still in a delay.

This kind of Tomfoolery has no place at LSU IMO

They're pandering to the big donors. Happens everywhere.

It's kind of like a bum going to a Ferrari dealership. No Way is he going for a Test Ride.

Maybe the people that sit in the prime seats have gotten tired of asking people to move. I know I have people sitting in my basketball seats almost every time and I usually just sit elsewhere because I get tired of asking people to move. I don't havbe a problem with LSU saying that if you want to sit in the prime seats you have to pay for them. Makes sense to me.

I just think in certain situations, like a game against a crap team, or after a huge rain delay, it shouldn't happen. Its obvious all those seats won't be filled in those situations.

The purple seats are no different than the suites. They are both high dollar, private seats. Just because it is easier to access the purple seats, doesn't give you any more right to sit in them than sneaking into someone's suite.

"Maybe the people that sit in the prime seats have gotten tired of asking people to move"
that isnt the case here, these are empty seats that no one is sitting in even late in games. and as the other poster said, his case was an hour before the game just to take a picture
after the 5th inning, you can sit in any empty green seat, or yellow seat nearest the dugouts. but you cant sit in the purple ones next to the dugout or the behind home plate yellows

then why would people pay for them if they know they can get the cheaper seats and just move to the prime seats at the game? I've only been to a couple major league games, and I remember them doing that kind of thing all over the place, especially at the nicer seats. It's not that surprising they are doing it on a smaller scale at college ballparks, especially if it comes with access to the 'champion's club'...

Weekday games and weekend games that are at odd times (due to rain delay or travel rules) they really shouldn't be as strict. I understand SEC weekend games though.

At the old Box people sat in our seats virtually every game. All you have to do is ask them to move, and they always do.
Who cares how much they paid for those seats!!!!

Because those people paid $$$$$$$ for those seats. If I paid 3K for each college baseball seat I would want them to keep the moochers out of my seat even if I were not there. If they want my seat they could buy it from me instead.

BTW this question is like asking WHY do they prevent MR Upper deck from sitting on the 50 yard line in the lower bowl. Whats the difference? But I never hear football fans complaining that they cant sit in the high dollar sections..
Posted on 3/24/09 at 10:56 am to OldManRiver
Because the people who own tickets for those seats are just better than everyone else.

Incase you missed it someone tried this method and the a-hole in his seat refused to move causing a big scene.
