Because they're pompous back stabbers. 2 weeks ago they were talking about Les' inept offense.

Steve Spurrier (UF) = 11 years, 1 ring
Steve Spurrier (USCe) = 9.5 years, 0 rings
Lou Holtz (ND) = 10 years, 1 ring
John Mckay (USCw) = 15 years, 4 rings
Barry Switzer (OU) = 15 years, 3 rings
John Robinson (USC x2) = 10 years, 1 ring
Pete Carroll (USC) = 8 years, 1.25 rings
Mack Brown (UTx) = 15 years, 1 ring

So why not Les at 11 years? Or 11 plus change. I don't remember that being the 11th line on those stone tablets.

No doesn't compare to some of the legends (in years or rings).
Joe Pa (45/2), Osbourne (24/3), Bear (24/6), Bowden (33/2), Schembechler (20/0), etc

Les has made me hate this guy, seriously. Bo never won a national title with his smash mouth, no tuti-fruti passing game and yet Les Miles adopted this as his personal motto.

Lets be honest with ourselves here; this is exactly why Les is gone. It's exactly why Sumlin, Malzahn and to an extent Hugh Freeze are all on the hot seat as well. LSU, A&M, Auburn and Ole Miss are spending Saban money (when you count HC and staff salaries) so they expect Saban results.

With the money being spent, the expectations have changed. No matter who Les followed, if he'd done what he did in the 90's it would already be Les Miles field at Tiger Stadium with a big arse Statue of him out front. But it aint the 90's.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Have you not heard our own fans bitch like little girls about how saban does this, and saban does that, and if saban was still at LSU..... We give the media their own ammunition against us.

For 99.9% of the fans, no coach will ever be good enough. Hell, most of them wont admit it, but they are secretly holding on to hopes that saban is coming back.

This. Too much wasted talent. We have top 5 recruiting classes yet we finish 20th or worse. Unacceptable! It wasn't just losing but the way we were losing.

Why can't you understand the national media?
Last year, we wanted to fire Miles.....they make story about you can't do that to him.

After the Wisconsin game the national media starts saying...maybe they should have fired. After Auburn, they understand why we fired him.

After Monday, it becomes what coach will come here if they fire a NC winning coach?

The moral of the story.....the media needs stories and if there is not one, they will make one up.

A key to Saban's success has been his ability to mold his offense and defense to fit the talents of his players, not try and force them into a system that will not work with their talent.

That is not rocket science. Malzahn has tried the latter at AU, and look what a mess he has on his hands. I have the impression Miles may have done the same.

They can. Media live on turmoil. No matter what happens, they will spin it in whatever way is controversial and gets attention. Ignore all media. It's the only way to deal with them.

we were headed for a 3rd straight losing or .500 record against the sec west.

2013 was miles' last good year. he had two years and the start of this year to do something about it.

also, lsu makes a lot of money on home games. if it looked like people where finally tired of him, then something to get people in the stands had to be done.

no reason to prolong the bloodletting after everyone knows he'll be fired at the end of the season.

The media is just a bunch of Hypocrite jackasses. One second they say we need Les gone asap and once he is fired they say LSU is wrong for what we did. You are right, a fan base should not expect a championship every year but the lack of development of top recruits and the god awful 1980's offense had to go. LSU fans were tired of seeing the same stuff and something had to be done.

Excellent summation. Brando and company were laughing their arse off at LSU's inability to develop a quarterback, et.al. Miles ain't gonna change, yada, yada, yada, yada. This and that, so finally whomever the powers to be made a decision in a very respectful and quick way to relieve CLM of his duties and honor his contract. He was treated respectfully by all outward appearances.

Now every terdknocker that was saying all such are belittling LSU for doing so because their little sissy asses didn't like the timing and that we are a disorganized pile of Cluster....

Well screw all of them and the horse they rode in on. That's Louisiana boys and that's the way we do it down here. See you in a couple of years when we kick your arse on the gridiron. Please make sure little Timmy gets a copy of this.

Well, you have to try to be the best. This is LSU, not Wyoming (meaning they will never contend for a NC). Why plan for 3rd place in the SEC West? Am I missing something?

You have to try unless you're Bama where, "If you aint cheating, you aint trying"

If our next coach wins 77% of games and puts a good offensive product on the field and contends every few years winking a few sec titles and a playoff run here and there I think he will be fine.

bullshite. If LSU's new coach can't beat Alabama at least every other year, he will be fired. That's what you're dealing with here. You just fired a coach with a 77% winning percentage, a better win percentage than Spurrier, Richt, Meyer and Saban during their SEC stints. And you have a clown leading the search. I agree with Lester needing to go but the way it went down is something we're going to have to contend with.

The media never had to sit through the crap we had to watch like 7 out of the last 8 years on offense. They were so in love with bumbling les they skipped the part where he actually never made any halftime adjustments and pulled a win out his arse occassionally. We were the ones who sat their calling almost every play and watching terrible playcalls , terrible Qb's and watched as all that talent was wasted in the last 4 years. Les is a good man but he is not a good coach. The next team who hires him will find that out when he doesnt have the talent to keep him in most games like he did at LSU.
