I hope the powers to be are thinking this too. I fear if we let him go, we will regret it for years to come.

Hire Kiffin as OC. Aranda as coach. Good post.

IDK...... 50/50 FOR ME RIGHT NOW

Like with CEO. I would like to see him build a smaller school before taking a gamble but I guess coaching hires are always gambles.

So if we hired him I would be on board .

Because by doing this you would be pulling him away from focusing 100% on the defense

Does he know how to manage a program? Can he recruit? These are unknowns, and LSU should not have to be someone's learning experience. Alleva has said we're going after a proven HC, and I agree.

then Aranda takes his amazing self else where

what would this team be without that D

if he is HC we get that level of D each year

Frick this logic. I'd rather give him a shot here and he fail than let him leave and he build a dynasty somewhere. Aranda is a young, revolutionary kind of thinker. I think if you pair him with a good OC and let him manage the defense, he has the potential to be great.

Just because you're a great DC doesn't automatically make you a good HC. Head coachs are managers more than anything.

I am not sure that the folks with the deep pockets would support the idea. Like it or not, it's reality. Aranda is a very, very good DC, but he is never going to be HC at LSU.

The other thing which is my personal concern is that the last time we did this we fricked up so bad. Archer has had success on defense. However, that did not mean he was head coach material, and we got to learn that one the hard way. There is a major jump from being a coordinator to being a head coach in terms of skill set, mind set, etc.

The other point is that I would not be surprised if Aranda's next stop is as an NFL Coordinator. I can definitely see him heading that way.

Like others, I would prefer a proven head coach. Perhaps down the road after seeing what Aranda does with a smaller program. However, again ..... at that point I would not be surprised if he then started looking at the NFL.

Why on earth does our program need to hire a guy who has never been a HC??? It rarely works, and I would like to think LSU can attract a successful current HC to run our program. Aranda is certainly doing an outstanding job as DC, but being HC in the brutal SEC West is a different animal!

I'd rather have O as head coach and keep Aranda focused solely on defense.

Only have O remain as HC, if we bring in an articulate offensive mastermind though.
