Sorry if Germans, but If this is truly a top flight position then why does it seem like no one really wants it. Why do we have to settle for a promotion from within or "sell" it to a potential candidate. With the perceived returning talent on the defensive side of the ball and the history (both recent and traditional) of successful units, what is the hesitation? Oh yeah, not to mention you'll probably be paid a million plus each year. Just seems like there's more to this issue than meets the eye.

Who ever lobbies for a job? If you worth a crap, you won't need to.

And I guarantee you there is a ton of behind the scenes stuff that goes on we'll never know when it comes to this.

Because you have to deal with Les Miles and the lack of offense. Pretty hard gig. Could hurt you for the next job you are looking for.

Timing is also an issue. Contracts have been extended. Chavis left us at worst possible time. We could have had a shot at Muschamp if our coaching changed happened when
Everyone elses did.

yeah just ask the guy who moved on to Coach at Nebraska, and they guy who is now the highest paid DC in the country.

Say what you will, our offense is defensive stat friendly. Ball control, field control, and TOP help out a defense.

I would actually argue that your stats would take an upswing. Just ask the #1 defense in the sec last year

You wouldn't call Pendergast a big name defensive coordinator? They've been in contact.

Doesn't mean LSU or any other school has a divine right to sign whoever they want.

And the job hasn't even been open a full week yet.

It could be that no one really thinks it's that great of a job because the offense is horrific. Why would a DC make a lateral move to a team who can't produce points or capitalize on the chances the defense would give them? That's the exact reason Chavis left. People have sit back and watched LSU be a terrible offensive team for years with no sign of light at the end of the tunnel.

This. Although they may win games, (which is the most important stat) I don't think Chavis's defense at A&M will ever be statistically near the top in the SEC. That being said, if you win stats don't matter as much.

Agents do the lobbying. They contact the head hunters to see if there is interest. A hundred fans can call for a certain coach and never get the name in the pot. If they do, Miles is not interested. He has his friends. That is the way the coaching world goes.
