Nah. He wore 7 when he broke out as a freshman, will wear 7 during what should be a heisman campaign as a sophomore, he should keep it as a junior, too. The name and the number should be synonymous. 7 looks better on him than 18 anyway, IMO.

Someone who sucks that Miles plays more than he should because of favoritism as usual.

By the way. Hester blows donkey dick. Keiland would have had done the same times 2 if had the carries.

GTFOOH

I am unaware of a player on the planet that could have a drive like Hester did against UF in '07. Let me rephrase part of that... Anyone not named Herschel Walker or Bo Jackson. It doesn't matter who you put on that field defensively, Jacob Hester was fricking scoring.

How can one be that ignorant.

ETA: Another two people deserving in my eyes would be Travin Dural and Duke Riley. Two players with obvious impact on the field, and never seen trouble off of it.

Not sure an OL can wear that number.

The college system is similar, except there is truly no “rule” governing what number a player may wear. The only official rule is that members of the offensive line who play in ineligible positions must wear numbers 50-79. Even that “rule” is not always a requirement, in particular in punt formations where anybody can be “ineligible” as long as they establish themselves as such when the snapper touches the ball.

The rule book actually reads (Rule 1-3, Section 4, Article 1) that “It is strongly recommended that offensive players be numbered according to…” and it lists guidelines similar to the NFL’s. It requires that “Backs” are 1-49, snapper 50-59, guards 60-69, tackles 70-79, ends 80-99. So college football teams do typically follow the same pattern as the NFL, except you’ll see kickers wearing numbers like #98 or #47 because those numbers aren’t needed as much by the rest of the roster

Thomas, Mills or Debo.

I'll say QT since Mills had the issue last year, and QT is coming back after last year's preseason injury.

Not necessarily, Bennie Logan had it as a Junior.

I believe Richard Dickson wore it for two years so you're absolutely correct that it's not necessarily going to be a Sr. After all, the originator of the 18 being of significance was Matt Mauck who left as a Jr.

I tell you who I'd like to see don #18, Trey Quinn. Hear me out. He is one of, if not the most, reliable threats on offense and a guy who we know Tony trusts considering it's who he went to in crunch time against Alabama.

So what's the real story behind #18? I keep hearing it started with Mauck, but he and Hester never played together. How could a freshman "earn" it?

Would actually be very cool.
Would be the first WR to wear #18. plus he's a 4th year player, so essentially a senior.

would be a good fit.
