He's the President of LSU, and having veto power over the football program is part of his job. The Athletic Department is not a free standing entity, much as that fact might disappoint the t shirt fans and Scott McKay.

I realize that but shouldn't it be up for a vote before the board of supervisors? Instead of being left up to one person who's not even from here?

Athletics gives to academics.....not the other way around. Besides if this moron wouldn't be so shortsighted he would see how being a force in athletics can lead to a ton more money for academics. Look at Alabama and how their out of state enrollment is up, donations are up, etc. Takes money to make money, fortunate Emmert knew this or we wouldn't have gotten Saban.

Emmert was a forward thinking rational leader. He wanted to actually help the university....not grandstand and meddle.
Edit: Wisconsin is know to have issues between athletics and academics. A constant power struggle. No we've gone and hired one of these idiots to run our entire system.
