It wouldn't matter if Mett started at QB if Welter sees significant playing time at Auburn. Beckwith is much more critical.

I kinda agree. Improvement at MLB is more critical, but Im not sure we'll see that much improvement regardless of who plays. ...hope I'm wrong about that.

I agree. I don't think Jennings would play well in that position.

??? If we have no offense, then it doesn't matter who starts at MLB, we're going to get smoked. Not saying Welter should start, but having Harris in the game is far more critical.

I made this very threat last night, and it did not go well.

I think BH proved he's the better QB and sould start, a lot of people here think we will score 2 TDs every drive with him at QB and don't need to bother playing defense at all as long as BH is QB.

I'm all for playing Beckwith, but that alone won't solve the problem. We gave up 172 rushing yards last night. Welter is a problem, but so is the dline. The QB battle gets all the discussion, but we will not win many games if we can't stop the run no matter who plays QB.

79 of which came on the TD run that went right up the gut where the Mike LB patrols.

Jennings vs. Harris is far more critical than Welter vs. Beckwith.

We KNOW Beckwith will get at minimum 50% of snaps like he has been.

But how do we know LEs will go with the clear cut favorite at QB?

If he starts Jennings and he plays anything like he did last night, we will be down 21-0 before we could blink.

Just watched the replay of this.

Welter completely bites on the play fake to the RB and gets caught up in a huge pile of people he runs into instead of staying home and watching what the QB does. The pile of people clearly would have had the RB, instead he goes after an assisted tackle on the non existant ball carrier because of a poor read and watches the QB run through a mack truck sized hole he left for him for an 80 yard TD.

One thing I noticed about AU & Marshall, he threw a bunch of balls up for grabs and his WR's made the plays.

I think we get a few INT's in this game

It was clear on the replay. Welter bit on the fake and actually ran into the back of one of our DL, who had that gap plugged. Completely abandoned his gap, leaving a gaping hole. That 79 yards was all on Welter.

What are the coaches seeing on game film that justifies keeping Welter in the game?

Welter sure looked bad on that QB keeper for TD last night. He made the wrong read and it was off to the races...... Can't have that against Aub. and we know their QB can take it to the house. We shall see. We get this area of concern fixed and the QB situation (which I think is all but resolved after last night) and LSU will beat Auburn if they play smart and take care of football. Geaux Tigers! Looking forward to Sat. Time to STEP IT UP!

So to recap on Welter

1. He reads plays poorly
2. He is slow
3. He is unathletic
4. He is a poor tackler
5. He has lapses getting us lined up properly

Yep, totally makes sense why he plays 50% of the snaps still

It's not just MLB although Welter is a disaster. Our DTs are not controlling the interior gaps which allows zone runs to kill us. I'm actually more concerned about that than QB play.
