I remember people calling for someone other that Matthieu to return punts in 2011 until the last couple games were he ripped off his two TDs

Skylar Green was... how good!!! The opponents would always kick the ball out of bounds so he couldn't get a return!

He may or may not have been the best but he was the most feared by our opponents.

Yeah sacrificing length for hang time and downfield coverage.

It's how you limit explosive punt returners.

Didn't he have a TD vs Kentucky?

Incorrect.

He has a TD.

Didn't Claiborne begin 2011 as punt returner? I know he was kickoff returner (the KO return vs WVU was sick)

I'd go Peterson as best punt returner.
He was electric as anyone.

Honey Badger tore it up at the end of 2011 and I think his returns were the most impressive of anyone. I think I'd give him the edge had we gotten one more year from him. He was only getting better as a defender and as a return man heading into 2012. Best player I ever saw grace Tiger Stadium.

I think OBJr needs to get a little more respect and mention in this conversation though.

People remember how much we were struggling in those games.

And your comment is dumb. His punt return stats are identical to Petersons.

Trindon Holiday and Skyler Green were both dangerous on returnable kicks.

Skyler Green

Would have been the top if he didn't get every other punt return called back.

No he was a great kick off returner too

29.1 yards a return

8th in the country/1st in the SEC in average
11th nationally/2nd SEC in total yard

His second return on Georgia

Probably one of the best returns I've ever seen and he didn't even score on it.

I think he made the whole team miss. If I remember correctly one guy may have even missed twice.

It wasn't even like it was bad tackling, they couldn't even touch him.

So FALSE on TM. The fact that they DID punt TO him at the END of the season is why we beat Arkansas and Georgia (SEC-CG). He was almost a non-factor prior to that. Sure handed and good decisions but no WOW! moments until the end of the season.

A list of all the guys to consider:

Peterson
Mathieu
Beckham
Buster Davis (replaced Chevis Jackson)
Trindon
Jones
Skyler Green
Shyrone Carey (only one return in the Les Miles era)
White

list omits guys with a couple of returns that weren't ever the guy unless they had success returning punts in the past like Shyrone.

That's why I vote for him. It seems like his were at the times that we had to have them, or else.
