Totally agree with you Drizz
Throw in an occasional Martin alley oop to Shaq and you got an unstoppable offense!

I'm glad the OP didn't ask to pick All LSU basketball team and LSU basketball coach to run the team - I pick Dale Brown and the board goes apeshit.

I am with you Drizz! It has got to be Daddy Dale! Anyone who knows what LSU basketball was like before his arrival cant argue!

The coach has to be Dale Brown. Who else would you pick?

That's the position he was at in the NBA for many years and he was an all star.

If you are talking about best individual players then it would be:
Point Guard Chris Jackson
Shooting Guard Pete Maravich
Center Shaquille O'Neal
Power Forward Bob Petit
Small Forward Dick Maile
If you are talking about best team play then it would be:
Point Guard Ethan Martin
Shooting Guard Pete Maravich
Center Shaquille O'Neal
Power Forward Bob Petit
Small Forward Vernell Singleton
Point Guard Chris Jackson
Shooting Guard Pete Maravich

Power Forward Bob Petit

Like all of ur second 5 listing except Singleton. Saw all of them play and more and would put Macklin, John Williams, Leonard Mitchell, Dewayne Scales and Stromile Swift easily over Singleton as team and individual players, John Williams only played 2 years but he could do it all at 6 foot 8 inches, Pass, rebound handle the ball play defense and could shoot up to about 18 feet. Other than Shaq he may have been the most physically talented player to ever play at LSU and after Pete the most versatile

LSU has an all time great team that ranks with the best programs all time teams with ease. I'm not sure if that is good or bad.

Shaq Bob Pettit Rudy Macklin Pistol Pete Chris Jackson, Ethan Martin was a better Point Guard, but CJ was phenomenal

What's interesting about putting together an all-time LSU team, is that there is a real missing piece in the middle. Jackson and Pete are no brainers at guard, as are Pettit and O'Neal. But in the history of LSU basketball, there has never been an obvious inside-out guy that would be considered an all time great. Dupree is the closest I could come to a guy who could score away from the basket and intimidate guys driving inside. But Dupree wasn't a decent outside threat. So after one or two GREAT years, Ben Simmons will probably be that obvious choice. That being said, I think a lot people forget how good Dupree was without much support in his later years.
For now:
O'Neal
Pettit
Dupree
Maravich

Going with a 13 man scholarship limit, gonna set the rotations as such...
PG: Chris Jackson / Ethan Martin
SG: Pete Maravich / Howard Carter / Marcus Thornton
SF: Rudy Macklin / John Williams / Jerry Reynolds
PF: Bob Pettit / Stromile Swift / Brandon Bass
C: Shaquille O'Neal / Stanley Roberts
ETA - Hopefully after this season I can bump Reynolds and have Simmons in the SF rotation.

Scrolling through the entire first page and see no one has Rudy Macklin in their top five. Really people.
Maravich
ONeal
Petit
Jackson
Macklin
All of whom were first team All-Americans. Two led the nation in scoring a total of 5 times. All five were SEC PoY and two took their teams to the Final 4. Beyond LSU, three were NBA All-stars, two were NBA MVP's who won world championships. Not to mention that group has all of the scoring, rebounding and shot-blocking records for single games, seasons and careers.
