P.A. announcer I grew up listening to.
Can still here his deep, somewhat nasal, booming voice.
"Hillyid carried" (Dalton Hilliard runs the ball),
"Stopped by Darr-Darr and Doo-Brock" (guys that made the tackle)
I'd love to hear some old tape, or an interview, if anybody knows about anything out there.

He had a great voice. He was also a member of the WAFB TV staff, if I remember correctly.

I do. He used to have a outdoors/fishing show back around 1972-75. He was doing a live fishing report one night and he forgot the name of the fish they had just caught. He couldn't remember "sheepshead" to save his soul. "AHHH...What's the name of that damn fish?"

Went to school with his kids and was good friends with Randy Crocker. Used to go to their house after school all the time , shoot hoops and play pool. Haven't seen any of them in years

For those who watched a football game in Tiger Stadium before 1986, this is the P.A. voice you heard.

Used to sit in the SEZ and for us there was always a slight "echo" effect from the speakers in the other EZ I assume so that it sounded like this:

"doctor - octor, number 3, 5, 7-even, Please call-all, medical exchange-ange."

Fond memories.

Yes, he was the best announcer! Loved his voice, and I can still hear him announcing the basketball players coming into the PMAC: Heeeeeeeere come the TIGERS!!!!! BTW, ik addition to being the voice of Senor Puppet he was also a weather man for a time on WAFB.

At an LSU basketball game something happened and fans started throwing crap on the court. Sid gets on the PA and asks for fans to not throw anything on the court since it might hurt an LSU player. That brought down the house.
