Montgomery, Reid, Matheau? I like Reid. I think he was sorely missed against Arkansas and if we wind up playing Alabama again we need him on the field and at full strength more than any other player on defense. We don't really have a back up that can take his place. Matheau makes great plays also but Brooks is a more than solid backup. Montgomery is turning into a star player also, but we have backups that can play near his level in Laver Edwards and Kendrick Adams.

As great as all these guys are, I have to go with TM7. He defines this D.

Morris Claiborne. Hands down from a Bama fan. Reid had a great game against us and Matheau is a big time player but for me its Claiborne. He's a lock down corner if there ever was one.

They are all good, but I would say Brockers is more valuable. LSU could not lose Brockers for the Bama game. Richardson's best runs were usually when Downs and Fergerson were in the game.

This is a tough question.

We're so loaded at DB that I think we could usually lose one and not be affected too much. (although I will say that Mo is far and away our best corner. I thought Tharold Simon was close to him, but the season has not borne that out.)

LBs, no one there worthy of MVP.

So, I wind up at defensive line, and boy I'd hate to lose Brockers. he's been the best of a deep group.

Still going with Mathieu, but it's really close between he and Claiborne.

Mathieu leads the team in tackles.
Mathieu leads the team in forced fumbles.
Mathieu leads the team in fumble recoveries.
Mathieu is 3rd in pass deflections.
Mathieu is 4th in tackles for loss.
Mathieu is tied for 2nd in INTs.

Brockers has been good, but Montgomery has been our best Dlineman.

Mathieu has had arguably the biggest impact, but that's not necessarily the same as him being the most valuable -- as in, if he's gone would we see a significant dropoff.

I think if we are facing Bama, Brockers or Mo are the two who come to mind first.

I would have also mentioned Reid up until I saw how comfortable Mathieu looked at safety last week filling in for him.

I prob couldnt spell TM7's last name correctly without looking it up.
DOnt take things so seriously.

Not like he said Jared Lee.
Ive read that this year.. more than once.

seems to me there is a big hole in the defense when Reid is not in the game. He can cover a lot of ground, has good cover skills, covers sideline to sideline on running plays and hits like a linebacker (unlike our LB's who barely hit at all).

Yea that would be blasphemy, huh?

To answer the question, I think Mo is the MVP.
