Well, he did say Franks is more advanced at this stage of his career than Peyton Manning...

That's a big reach

Oh really?

I would say that offering Franks first after evaluating both QB's is pretty telling of who he wanted to go with.

Franks could end up being Logan Thomas or Ben Roethlisberger

No. Franks does not have the athleticism of a Logan Thomas and we actually have a quality QB coach so he can develop. Thomas was slightly less version of Cam Newton. With the proper coaching, he might have been 1st round material. IMO, Franks floor is Tony Pike from a few years back at Cincy who he is very comparable to. Pike led a Cincy team

2008 199/324 61.4% 2407 yards 19 TDs 11 ints missed 2 games (played 12)
2009 211/338 62.4% 2520 yards 29 TDs 6 ints missed 3 games (played 10)

I think his ceiling is that of a Winston (2013 version) or Big Ben

Likewise I see Patterson's floor as Bo Wallace and his ceiling Aaron Murray.

I would think Franks. Don't think he would have turned down Patterson no matter what anyway, but Franks has more upside IMO...

Well neither QB takes snaps from under center

This isn't true. Franks takes snaps from under center, though not exclusively. Patterson does not. I'd also put Franks in more a "pro-style" class than Patterson--i.e. under center, drop back, and vertical passing.

Both are legit and Patterson will be a great QB some day, particularly with what Freeze wants to run. I like Franks though. Hearing a lot of the talking heads on the radio seems to confirm this.

Patterson wanted his brother on the staff. It seems to me like LSU was willing to give the kid a shot as a GA if that would help things along, but that's it.

Ole Miss will likely be announcing Sean Patterson as the new recruiting coordinator or some title like that. My guess is that Cam told him to take a hike when they tried to play games to get the brother a paid gig on the staff.
