He had an established history of being good for only one year. I don't know why. His one year brought us a BCS at least. I do think if RP stays on the team, the crowton offense remains successful.

i know we set records in 2007. i remember the internet rumblings of the disgruntled oregon fans. maybe theres something to it. he was at southern utah and they were setting the world on fire. now he's bolted for oregon state. im not carrying a crowton torch, but the dissmissal of perriloux and inexperience of the backups wouldve thrown most teams into a quandary.

Yeah and that's why Crowton was not really blamed for 2008. The blame was put on JL. But the offense never recovered, which fit in with Crowtons track record. I don't know why, really. Bc that 2007 offense was the best I've ever seen at LSU.

I got my doubts GC built much of the '07 offense and there was a sprinkling of his influence at best.
Crowton recruited for and tried to install his O philosophy in subsequent years up to dismissal in '10.
Not sure if you're trying to call '08 and '09 Offense great achievers.
According to sources close to team, he was a lame duck coach for latter part of '10 and had limited if any OC influence allowed by Miles.

Crowton was terrible after 2007.

His offense was undisciplined and overcomplicated. The players were lost all the time and assignments were routinely missed.

He had a bunch of wrinkles that threw our competition off in 2007, plus a supremely talented team with senior leadership, and then the competition figured him out and he couldn't replace the seniors with people that could understand what he wanted.

I noticed he ran many of the '06 plays out of different formations.
LSU should employ this midseason during bama bye.
