I say ~40 on an average night. Take your purple glasses off before you respond...

My basis is the Rhode Island loss as our "low", the Texas Tech/Butler wins as an "average", and the Kentucky win as our "high". In my opinion, if we play an average game, we should beat most teams ranked lower than 40. If we play our best game, I believe that we would beat all teams outside of the top 10. The problem is...when we play like shite, we can lose to a Rhode Island.

It's too bad that the automatic bids ensure that the big dance doesn't include the top 68 teams in the country. Personally, I believe that this current team has as much talent as our last final 4 team and more than our previous.

I wish you would have started your thread off with this, so I didn't have to read all of your idiotic logic

I just can't give an honest answer. I've seen potential for greatness at times, but an outsider probably has not.
I would rank them around 30 right now, but that is, of course, discounting some of the bad nights.

I said "talent". Compare them for yourself and show me where I'm wrong. I know for sure that this team is way more talented and has more depth than our 80's final 4 team.

Davis - JOB
Tasmin - Martin
Tyrus - Mickey
Tack - Hickey
Darrel - Stringer

I have to agree with the former, this squad is loaded with talent. Tyrus, Big Baby, Tasmin, Darrel and Temple aren't much more talented, if at all, than Hickey, Stringer, Martin, JOB, Mickey.

But the '86 final 4 team is possibly LSU's best ever.

No one plays defense on this current team but Mickey.

Martin WILL BE special….He isn't there yet.

Really not far-fetched.
Somebody started a thread today saying he'd rather NIT than NCAA... That's way more idiotic.

Davis >> JOB
Tasmin >>> Martin
Tyrus > Mickey
DMitch >> Stringer
Hickey > Temple even though GT's defense is the main reason we beat Duke

Hickey leads the SEC in steals? AGAIN. (That will make 3 years consecutive for counters)

Oh yea, and LSU leads the SEC in steals, close 2nd in blocks, and close 2nd in rebounds.
So, yeaaa

I'd also be willing to bet we lead the NCAA in most uncontested layups given up.

ETA: Tack wasn't on that team, slim.

You said

Which is totally false. Just because its not what you're used to seeing, its still defense. They're learning how to adapt to the new foul rules and incorporating a new zone scheme right now.
It is fair to say that they're Not effective on defense, but everyone plays defense with good effort.

Inside is actually pretty close but the 06 team was better. Davis is much more consistent than JOB. Mickey has more basketball skills than Tyrus, but Tyrus was significantly more athletic and had more length. Martin might actually be more talented than Tasmin, but Tasmin was more polished as a freshman and was a better defender.

The backcourt isn't even close. Hickey and Stringer might be he best under 5'10 backcourt of all time. But they're still under 5'10. It's the biggest reason for our defensive struggles. Temples ability to lock up the opponents best wing player was a HUGE part of that teams success
