giving up when little things would go wrong or at least we think they go wrong.

I'm not being negative or positive, but realistic. The right hire takes time and there are a lot of moving parts behind the scenes. Don't fall prey to the "read-me, read-me" sports guys who are offering little more than teasers. Just take a break and let this play out. Rarely have hires been bad under Miles, at least not during their first year.

No way, Les should rush this hire because tRant says so.

I think his point is that, there are positions of the fan base that always get like this, even when we had what is now considered a G-d amongst coaches.

The only reason people want Les to hire a dc so quick is so we dont lose out on recruiting especially big names like we did with phillips and maybe mack

I concur, I was simply sourcing the comment for validity.

Perhaps. But this isn't just about making a hire. It's about our AD throwing a public temper tantrum after our DC went to another school instead of at least pretending to be professional & in control.

It's about our HC obviously taken by suprise with losing a key member of the staff.

It's about a previous coching staff member praising his new team's offense which is our weakest spot and then being quoted in a NOLA newspaper as leaving bc he was frustrated with our lack of O...

It's about the alleged 2 year clause that hints of even further disruption in the very near future.

All of this on the heels of a season where we saw no improvement in our glaringly weak Offenese.

These aren't little issues when added together and I believe any reasonably intelligent person would at least be concerned about the turn this program is taking.

Actually they want him to make a bad hire so bad that he will be out the door faster. They've been waiting 10 years and they believe this is their best shot to be rt for once.

He's not being quoted though. A source is being quoted. No where does it say chavis said that. It is quoting a source saying chavis said that.

Completely diff.

Very true. But the vast majority of college football fans won't read it that way. Doesn't matter if it's really true. That article combined with the other issues I listed give a person cause for concern. There's no need for a full on meltdown but concern is valid.

I am concerned, but what this thread addresses and has been brought up many times before is the complete meltdown of people from Louisiana. It isn't baseless.

Not completely baseless but not the same, either. LSU's fan base reputation for meltdown is completely deserved in our ability to expect the worst from ref's, other coaches, our own coach, even each other.

The op described it as
quote:

giving up when little things would go wrong or at least we think they go wrong.

This isn't a questionable call nor is it one thing in isolation. I don't think describing something that would cause a reasonable person to have concern as catastrophic syndrome is accurate or helpful. It's just as unhelpful as those in full melt mode. The fact is, this isn't an ideal situation and the decision we are waiting on comes at a pivotal point in our program. No need to minimize legit concern. It doesn't balance out the melt; it just adds to the crazy.

I also wanted to point out we are in dead period. We can't contact recruits anyway. Nsd isn't until February. We still have plenty of time.

And to lsugrl, we haven't hired anyone yet. Freaking out and wanting Miles fired is idiotic. These people are not concerned with the DC hire. They have wanted him out since the Tennessee loss at home in 05.

When did he throw a "temper tantrum" and what did he say?

Catastrophe Syndrome at LSU vs his current post at Alabama is like comparing a glass of spilled milk to the Mount Vesuvius eruption....

Finally, some sense

For the longest people thought Michigan wouldn't get Harbaugh. Harbaugh stated several times that he was not interested at the moment. The media ran with the fact that Michigan fans should just give up hope of ever getting the guy. The man denied it for a while, yet look where he is now.

People follow these sports guys with "sources" like a religious congregation. These guys could also be told to put information out as smokescreens as well. We won't know for real until the guy is hired. Let's just sit back and see what comes about. Don't have a panic attack people.

Follow recruiting a little closer. We didn't lose out on those guys because of that. Mack didn't seem really interested in LSU in the first place, and Phillips was a tough sel even before.
