When did Saban separate himself from Miles?

A lot of people compared the two and considered them both at the top as little as 4 or 5 years ago. (I for one have never believed Miles was even close). But for those of you that did, at what point did they separate? BCS game maybe? I think it was blatantly obvious at that point that the game had passed Miles by.

1/9, period. Before that he had amassed the greatest college football season ever.

If you're talking about Saban now I agree

But Saban at LSU isn't nearly as good as he is now at Alabama.

Yeah that game was terrible. If you can't even attempt to make adjustments in a game as big as that, then it's time to retire. It's a shame he didn't.

Yep. And if it weren't for him being the most stubborn person on the planet, he may have been remembered for having the best team ever.

IMO, Saban has always been head and shoulders above Miles as a coach. Up until 1/9, Miles was at least competing. Since 1/9, Saban has really separated himself from Miles, and every other coach in college football. Nobody does what he does.

When he realized the college football landscape was changing and evolved his offense and Miles regressed his.

Saban has always been a better coach. He significantly widened the gap between our programs when he swallowed his pride and handed the offense over to Kiffin. Miles will never adapt to the new game and it will be his undoing.

Saban inflicted a mortal blow. Les has been slowly bleeding to death ever since.
