What would the national perception be if we beat Clemson?

Since everyone is writing LSU off and calling for a program in decline. I wonder what the actual difference between 11-2 & 10-3 actually is? The publications that have come out so far have been crazy.

The publications haven't been crazy and they wouldn't be that much different if we had won.

You people don't realize this is the least experienced defense since before Saban and it's still a Les Miles offense until proven otherwise. Given that, you should be happy with whatever ranking comes out.

Huh?? There's maybe 1 position on defense that will lack experience. We played a ton of guys last year.

frick that.

It's 14-0 every year and Miles is Bill Walsh returned from the dead.

Same

Bowl results don't change the pre season perception much in my opinion

Who cares? The Clemson game was meaningless.

It would be better, most likely. Bowl results can be fairly influential. I read something about 2 years ago citing the correlation of bowl win, end of season standings, and pre-season standings--some gambling mag. No link.

Sure a lot takes care of itself and is obvious, but teams that win, especially win big in bowl games generally have a much more favorable outlook.

Look, we lost to CLEMSON on NYE. You do that, you're an afterthought, especially when you're surrounded by up and coming teams. If A&M lost the Cotton Bowl what would the feeling be? Not meaningless.

We would have been top 10 if we won that game. To bad most of our players had NFL fever and clemson had a chip on there sholder in that game.

That was way more on the coaches. I don't buy a total lack of effort. It was there, it just was not good enough and offense bottomed out and was set up to fail.

We have more defensive starters returning than we did in 2010 and we played more freshmen than anyone in the nation last year

But keep being a miserable bitch

Plus LSU had a very good bowl run going starting with Coach Dinardo. We're now 1 of last 4. That really needs to change.

We return 5 starters on defense and 9 on offense. 14 starters coming back. 33 of 44 from the 2-deep last year.

I am not buying that we are inexperienced and will only win 8-9 games. We were nothing but sophomores in 2011, which was one of the best teams in LSU history.

This team will be very good. Count on it. The national media refuses to look below the surface. All that they see is that LSU lost a bunch of juniors to the draft. They miss that we had hardly any seniors of note and that not all of the juniors were even starters. That is how loaded LSU was. Sure, they won't be as good as they would have been if all of those guys had come back, but they will still be very good.

Enough of the negative talk. Let's bust some heads.

Yes. LSU was a post season lock for nearly a decade. I can even write off 04 and 09 to an extent with all that went on in those games, but the last two were disgraceful, 1/9 obviously.

If lsu had taken control and won by a couple TDs the perception would be much different.

Our defense has plenty of experience.

I love getting no respect.

It depends on the win/loss. In your case, it wouldn't have mattered. LSU competes for BCS National Champsionships and BCS bowl wins. The Chick-fil-A bowl was neither, and the fact that Texas A&M got picked for the Cotton Bowl over you was an insult IIRC.

South Carolina worships their back to back 11-2 seasons, but they haven't really been 11-2 good. LSU fans should hope for (not expect) more 12 or 13 win seasons since double digit win seasons are a regularity under Miles and Chavis, and you've got the talent to win big regularly.

That sucked. But I understand the pick. The most exciting player in CFB and the Heisman winner. It was a done deal.
