Why does it matter? Les isn't leaving so this is pointless

Well, Smart wasn't on a single poster's wish list when this was all going down (well, maybe 2 or 3 mentioned him) so I think the Rant's position is...

...that those fools in the AD didn't have the balls to go get him and he was the one that would have turned things around instantly!

Remember what happened with UF when they hired Muschamp? That's what would happen to LSU.

I don't think anybody wanted Miles replaced with Smart.

There are people here who'd be OK with LSU going down to the local Y and hiring the athletics coordinator as long as it meant getting rid of Miles.

Same as UGA

Very risky to fire a proven HC for an unproven coordinator

Ding, ding winner! Georgia is playing with fire IMO. He might end up being the next Saban, but they also might end up being the next Texas, Florida, USC, Michigan, etc.

Jimmy and Hanny are blasting the hire!

What I think you are saying is that LSU could be in Georgia's shoes if LSU had fired Miles.

And LSU could be stuck with Smart.

The logical inference: Good think LSU did not fire Miles.

So you'd take Smart tearing down LSU to a 5-6 win team only to have to fire him and possibly hire a guy who may or may not be good?

Solid logic there.

If he hired a good OC, I would be happy with the hire.

But UGA is the best open job in the country.

UGA decided to gamble. Only one way to find out how it shakes out.
