We ran the jumbo/1 receiver set in the middle of the field several times. Same old same old

Two things to remember:

1) Texas A&M is pretty bad, defensively, even with the Chief. Their passing defense looks better than it is, since teams just run it and A&M's offense isn't very dangerous.

2) Brandon Harris is inaccurate. He should be throwing shorter and safer routes, instead of constantly trying to sling it 15+ yards. Cameron's offensive system gets receivers open 15+ yards downfield, but it's useless since Harris won't get the ball there.

Cameron's schemes are fine - not great, not awful, not good, not bad, just ... fine.

The schemes do not fit Brandon Harris' skill-set, though, which is why he constantly looks lost and uncomfortable.

It was great. I especially liked the forced time outs in order to prevent delay of game penalties. We squandered 3 red zone opportunities in the 1st quarter. Great play calling. So great that you can expect the same next year.

Every team in CFB and NFL has forced timeouts, especially in the red zone when you're trying to get the right matchups and plays called to get a TD or ensure at least a FG. Given the short FG miss early on, I'm sure the coaches were being extra careful to minimize lost yardage, so play calling become more limited. Good execution was needed, and wasn't there on most drives - mainly poor throws by the QB.

Harris has never been dual-threat

He actually is. He needs to run more.

Decent play calling.

When we get in the red zone its like we have not practiced being their all year. We always change out players and use multiple timeouts with little success.

Also we run out of the read option a lot but QB never keeps the ball.

First thing I would work on would be red zone offense. Quit changing out players. Keep it simple. Go fast. Keep same formation.

Harris's execution. He was horrible. Inexplicably so, because he seems to have all the physical skills. With even average execution in the short passing game, we'd be in the running for a playoff spot.

No EVERY team does not call multiple timeouts in the red zone. The last game of the year you should be able to go fast and dictate what you want.

Did anyone else think that Harris looked a little wooden in his running. Was he hurt and hiding it? He looked very stiff and not real loose.

To me, lack of execution by the QB was 99% of the problem. After getting pummeled the last 3 games, it seems like Harris was waiting to get whacked on every play. I was pretty much ready for the 2nd. String QB to come in when Guice ripped off that TD run, and that is pretty desperate!

I actually have no complaints about the play calling. It was execution.

Except that stupid toss dive. I think that play needs to go in a flaming pile of dog shite
