to the students' credit, they have turned out in full force a few times this year, but this past Saturday was ridiculous. The previous saturday against Miss. St. there were ton of empty student seats. I get that it was mardi gras, but there were still a ton empty student seats. Against #15 texas a&m, in a must win game, one upper student section was totally empty and other upper sections were maybe half full. What's the deal? Besides a few unsold single tickets, the rest of the pmac was nearly sold out.

Not a student but feel like I need to defend them this time.
Were you one of the guys who were bashing them a few weeks ago with the F U Buddy chant? What do you want?

solid attendance without embarrassing the University? Lol at you tards who offer this either/or defense of students.

Edit: I was there and didn't think it was poor attendance, but it wasn't full. I rarely sat in the student section either.

My brother has a season ticket for every member of his family. His daughter sits with them when shes not performing.

So the obvious guess would be with their parents.

While this is true....esp in Basketball, its not like the allocation for the student area is that low. The demand just isn't there for whatever reason.

The TX A&M student section they brought in was louder at times than LSU student section. Up until the 2nd half.

You're missing the point. How many seats does the PMAC allocate for students? How many students does LSU have? They have the potential top pick in this year's draft on the team for one year only and they are playing the #15 ranked team in the country, a team that is quickly becoming one of our biggest rivals. How does this team not have the full support of the students?

I didn't either, but when I was in school, the average attendance was about 7,000 and there were entire rows in the lower sections empty. That's not the case anymore, students can't get in and go pick the best seat in the house. When it is a near sellout, students are pretty much stuck in the student section or standing room only.

Seems that teachers have decided to give everyone tests this week. I have 3. That is why I did not attend.

If you haven't been to a basketball game in the last 3-5 years, you are in for a shock. I guess because of the mediocrity, the only folks who kept their tix are old. We have sat through the last five years as season-ticket holders and the amount of apathy is incredible. I am talking about never making a sound. Not clapping for good plays. Leaving 3-5 minutes before the game is over, which happened again Saturday. God bless the student section. Without them, the PMAC would be the Dead Dome.

It's all about consistency. For the past decade, LSU basketball has been very up and down (good one game/terrible the next). Without that consistency, it's tough to build a solid fan base. Next season will be the difference maker, IMO, assuming LSU gets into the NCAA tourney this season. They will have the opportunity to be tournament bound 3 seasons in a row. As that consistency returns, more fans will hop on the bandwagon.

I don't believe you were there Saturday. Most people did not leave until after the game was over... maybe 10 people left early at the most.... because so many people stayed until the end, the traffic was horrible after the game this time..

1. I am a student and don't sit in the student section
2. Lsu is not a basketball school. I am sorry. It sucks, but it's true

There were PLENTY of empty seats around me too. It's just that the student section is confined to one area, so it appears worse than the gen pop sections
