I keep hearing mixed reviews of what to expect as an LSU fan up there. Some say the fans aren't bad, but then I also hear they treat LSU fans like crap and charge massive covers at the bars and kick everyone out if they lose. I'm heading up for my first time and just want to know what I'm getting into.

Based on 2011 that is all true

If you doze off, you can expect a set of salty nuts dragged across your head.

I went out in 2011 after we won, in an LSU polo, and no one gave us shite. Met some Bama fans and had a good convo

I was there in '11 and I have to say the fans we came across were generally classy. Lots of congratulations after the game. We went to a bar beforehand, and the 'Bama fans left us alone. No welcome wagon, but no hostility.

Seats were comically bad. Top deck, end zone. Picture heaven, only everything was purple and gold instead of white.

90% of the Bama fans are relatively cool if we beat them.

If they beat us, it can get intolerable.

Showed up to the game in '11 and everyone was really welcoming and hospitable. Don't get me wrong they have a severe elitist attitude and think they can't lose, but they are fun to shoot the shite with. After we beat them, it's like a switch flipped. None of them would speak back to me and they were the biggest bunch of sore losers I've ever seen. My brother got elbowed in the crotch by an 8 year old in tears after the game. Then again it was pretty dark, it might have been Saban.

Keep your head on a swivel for teabaggers. And leave your trees at home.

There for 05, 09 & 11 (&13) 2-1 and think only encountered 1 $%^hole all times before during or after. Just like anywhere (including TigerT) all depends where you are and luck of draw if run into any obnoxiuos idiots.
Recall after 11 W we're walking back to the car with solemn Gump crowd only sounds we hear are LSU sucks taunted at us from behind only to turn and see two fine coeds the culprits! Needless to say just kept on walking to the car.

Bama fans are tricky. Their good fans are awesome. Really respectful, cordial, and extremely knowledgeable of college football. They are in the majority.

On the other hand, their crazies are way crazier than anyone else's crazies. They are compeltely void of any rational thought. Get unbelievably angry and violent after a loss and LOATHE our fans.

Basically the best advice I can give you is if LSU wins, keep your head on a swivel.

Went out last night to the houndstooth. There were 4 lsu fans there including 3 of us. For the most part everyone was cool. It's mainly the drunk younger women that talk shite. A couple really drunk young guys but most would give you the roll ride and then say it will be a hell of a game. Talked to the bartender and she said they make more money on lsu weekend than the next three sec weekends combined. She said lsu fans start early and stay late. Almost everyone says lsu is just a different fan base. They come to have a good time win or lose. General consensus was they were all pretty worried about this game. Particularly our skill position on offense

I sat in the endzone upper deck for a game and agree. I hate the seats up there and the noise level up there is night and day from the lower bowl. I started the 2011 LSU/Bama up there but knew how to get to ground level from there and the atmosphere between there and the lower bowl is night and day. Having said that, that is an upper deck thing. I've been to the last few Bama/LSU games in Tiger stadium and had upper deck seats and it wasn't that loud at all in the upper deck and that is one of the elite stadium atmospheres in any sport. That's the problem with upper decks everywhere.

As for some of the comments about the Bama fans, pretty fair analysis other than the cover charges. I think the bars on the Strip were gouging people big time in 2011 because the whole scene was off the charts that day and they thought they could make the extra money off of people forced to watch the game at one of the bars.

True that. You're just a little removed in a top deck, pretty much anywhere. The lone exception that springs to mind is Sanford Stadium. I was up there in September and I thought it was a really good seat. Great views without feeling like I was on Pluto.

Or the Planet Formerly Known as Pluto.

It's like anywhere else. If you go there looking for crap you will find it. If you act normal and are friendly to everyone you will be treated very nicely. Most of us Bama fans are some of the best anywhere but you still have the drunk idiots that every fan base has. I definitely think the good fans wayyyy outweigh the bad despite what you are hearing from other LSU fans. Have a great trip!

I would expect Gumps to be out in full force. Pregnant women smoking, lots of overalls, rotten teeth, Pabst Blue Ribbon/Schlitz, Bryant hats, tatoos consisting of a Saban/Bryant hybrid on wife's belly, lots of juniors named Bear, and lots of jacked up 20 year old trucks with a huge freakin A on the back. Typical classic Bama!
