According to Adam Reardon, sports radio personality in Fla., Foley was "set off" by Alleva offering to play the game in Baton Rouge.

He was just interviewed by Moscona.

Guess that was the first offer, and after that, UF decided to keep leveraging until it was too late to come up with a workable alternative.

Wow. So sorry LSU tried to play the game???

ETA: Reardon also sides with LSU on this one:

Is @BigBoyRadio ignoring that Alleva ALSO suggested playing the game at UF on Sun or Mon? As well as in BR... @1045espn

Im not saying I agree, but I could see that happening.

Alleva overplaying his hand early in the week trying to strong arm a game in BR thinking he will have Sankeys support. Turns out Sankey says no lets wait, and then later in the week Foley has the redass and isnt willing to bend an inch

Now they want more scheduled games to be moved because Florida was too much of a pussy to face LSU when they should have.

what angers me is that they could have moved the game back to Sunday and adjusted fire from there based on the weather...

Sounds like Foley has an ego problem.

How dare LSU offer Tiger Stadium as an alternative?
UF is too special for that. Typical Gator. They have always been like that - arrogant snobs.

The sad thing is that this game could have so easily been played Saturday, Sunday or today in Gainsville.

To make LSU and Baton Rouge break a contract with an OOC team, miss out on a home game, lose all the revenue associated with it both for the school and the city, and do away with the opportunity to give a community still suffering from the floods a boost all because Foley was triggered is insane to me.

Well, that just confirms that Foley is an incompetent squirrel. Alleva made a reasonable and obvious gesture, the same he made one year ago.

Meanwhile, Foley NEVER offered to play the game anywhere else but Gainesville. He could easily have looked into Tampa, just like Miami/FSU/ACC did.

In fact, if Foley were remotely competent, he could have offered to play the game in either Tampa or Gainesville on Sunday depending on the outcome of the storm. It mattered not to LSU (which had no say in the matter anyway) because the Tigers planned to fly into Tampa to get to the game no matter what.

Summary: Foley is either dishonest, incompetent or both. This situation failed because of Foley and Sankey's ineptitude.

Well that bitch played the SEC like a fiddle.

Our anger is completely misdirected as a fanbase for the most part. We are being a cheated on woman who blames the other woman instead of the husband

Maybe Alleva was looking at how things played out last year for the South Carolina game. Natural disaster strikes, LSU offers to move the game to Baton Rouge last minute. LSU gets widespread praise for accommodating relocating the game on short notice. LSU donates all the gate proceeds back to South Carolina and received widespread praise for hospitality to the team and the visiting fans. Maybe Alleva assumed that given how things worked out for the South Carolina game last year that it would be a welcome offer for LSU to host the game knowing that they'd be donating all gate proceeds back to UF or to Hurricane relief in Florida.

I'm not buying that Joe wanted Florida to play in Baton Rouge 3 years in a row.
I believe Joe offered to swap this year and next year and foley knew the gators would have gotten destroyed in Baton Rouge so he declined. And of course rumors like that get started so it won't be obvious that foley was scared.

Probably, but UF thinks they can win the division, USCe did not.

Joe Alleva and the word "strong armed" does not compute.Sorry. Not in his A.D. DNA.

The solution is simple. Either Florida forfeits the game for refusing to host or accept a reasonable alternative, or they are ruled ineligible for the SEC championship this year. I think being ruled ineligible would be the best way to handle it. I would open up the SEC this year to a top two team system, not East vs West in response.

Obvious that Stinkey got rolled & pushed around. The loser is the Tigers, certainly in these kind negotiations a strong presence is needed to guide & direct the process .....
didn't happen.

Not good think he new to the commissioner position; problems for future.

It was a good interview. He seemed to side with LSU on every issue, including that we shouldn't give up our 11/19 home game. He did keep strongly saying that BOTH schools were "petulant children" though, but I never heard him actually point out a way in which LSU was being selfish.

Yeah I caught the remarks about "both sides acting like petulant children." I just don't see that though for LSU's side.

UF came out posturing with their release indicating that the game would be played at Gainesville.

I don't know if that release was before or after the offer to play at LSU was made, but it having been released after would make sense in that that release was UF's response to Alleva's offer.

For UF to simply shut down on a (pending weather/hurricane damage) re-scheduled game for either Sunday or Monday was ridiculous.
