Does winning the series with Florida get us in? If not how far would we need to go in the SEC tourney?

I'd guess winning the Florida series *and* getting to SECT final would do it. Anything less, no.

To host? In my opinion going 1 of 3 this weekend would still allow us to host and 2-3 would allow of to have a real shot to host as a national seed, assuming we have a good showing in the SEC tourney.

Only the rally possum knows what it will take to host super regional and win the college world series.

My guess is rally possum will make sure there is an upset in regional LSU is paired with.

I would think winning 2 of 3 from Florida somehow, combined with some other things happening to vault us in the SEC standings, could put us in a decent spot.

Then add in a solid showing at the SEC Tourney and you may be talking about a legit shot at a national seed.

Don't see it happening though.

Win the series this weekend and make it to the SEC championship game with a couple wins against the top teams in the SEC could probably be enough to get a national seed. I think it depends more what other teams do than what LSU does unless LSU just wins every game. I say they do that and leave no doubt.

That was my same thought. We still haven't lost since rally possum, and until we do, I'm believing in the magic. So if rally possum holds, we're definitely a national seed.

Yea, LSU needs to take the Florida series, have some other top SEC teams drop some games, and make a run in the SEC tournament (and ideally knock out a Mississippi school or two in the process to even the head-to-head records). Take the UF series and win the SEC Tourney and I think a national seed is a lock. Anything less and it gets dicey and becomes dependent on circumstances outside of LSU's control.

Have the national seed we're paired against lose their regional.

Best chance? We win our regional and the opposite national seed fails to make it out of their regional.

Sweep UF and I think we get one. Decent chance we win a share of the SEC Championship if that happens too. The SEC has soooo many good top teams though, it's tough to even say with a sweep of UF we'd be guaranteed a national seed short of doing some damage in the SECT.

I was at the game last night and talked to some of the players and they seem to think that winning the series and finish in the Top 4 with a couple of wins in the SEC Tourney could do the trick

The SEC may actually have 4 National Seeds this year which I believe has never happened by one conference. Usually they don't even like to have 3 from one conference.

That said, LSU's only hope for a National Seed is for one of the teams above us to basically lose out for the rest of the regular season & SEC Tournament and we win out. There is 0% chance 5 teams from the SEC are National Seeds. I have serious doubts even 4 make it.

Florida is a lock. A&M close to it. That leaves MS State and South Carolina. If either of those teams tank, SC more likely, then MAYBE LSU has a shot but I wouldn't bet on it. Ole Miss could come into play too with a strong finish.

We need Ole Mess and USCe to go quietly the next 2 weeks, in addition to a strong finish. No way we pass up MSU.

It normally would but this year there are just too many good teams in the SEC that are National Seed worthy

I was wondering if we Sweep UF how we wouldn't be a National Seed? They are supposedly a lock and we would be ahead of them in the SEC if that happened.

See my above post. Florida is a lock to be a national seed. Texas A&M & MS State are close to locks. South Carolina is penciled in as one right now too.

The only way we are getting ourselves in consideration is winning 2/3 vs Florida and making it the SEC Tournament final. That still may not do it if the teams above us keep winning.
