re: What kind of leash for Bregman?

He has 11 at bats and has 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. He's not 0/11 with 7 k's. He missed a grand slam by a total of 5 feet. He's pressing and the Stros are trying to keep him calm.
Not to mention, Valbuena just got hurt and may end up on the DL. Tucker is sucking. Rasmus is sucking. He's not being pushed that hard.

...And Gurriel is still 3-4 weeks away. When/if he is called up Bregman will get playing time in OF and spot duty in the infield.

A legit question is not... If he misses another strike will he be sent down in the middle of his next at-bat.
Well it's a good thing he didn't ask that then. You are misinterpreting his question if you thought that's what he was meaning.
And Valbuena is definitely suited for 3rd base and has arguably been the Astros second best hitter this season. Plus Gurriell is coming up soon who will be playing a lot of 3rd. There is definitely a spot in the lineup for Bregmans bat though when he gets it going like he has at every level of baseball.

He's not going anywhere , the expansion rosters are 5 weeks away and Astros have 2 that might go on the DL ...

You're right...that's very arguable. Unless we just don't act like Correa and Springer exist.

Soon? As in a month? You know how much can happen in a month? If he's batting .175 in a month then yea...but Jesus give it time. Not to mention, they've worked Gurriel out a lot at 1B, too. They plan to use Bregman and Gurriel as guys who can move around.
Let's also not forget that Carlos Gomez got hurt tonight and he's played like shite all season. The 3 outfielders today are batting .216, .186, and .227...needless to say, he has a leash on him.

Valbueno has been killing it at 3rd.

agreed. now if I said this I would down vote myself. Now ask yourself, did I make up that statement in my head?
I did not say anything even close to that stupid

I agree about valbuena. Everytime someone talks about Bregman he does something incredible. However he was sniped last night. Usually on a slight hamstring strain you don't fall like that, instead just pull up and try and knead it out. Having been to the games instead of just skimming the box scores, Alex is on the ball, just timing is off. The box scores look pretty bleak, though so if you were in Louisiana and blacked out I can understand how some are freaking out after 11 plate appearances. He was 2 feet from a grand slam two nights ago, and the popups he hit today he was dead on it. It takes a little while to get timing down because in MLB and AAA the pitchers pitch much more deliberately. He's looked phenomenal in the field, the bat will come, but I don't think it's wise to let him DH. Keep him involved in the game and it will come. Although I did hear if he made it to the Detroit trip without a hit he would be subject to some hazing on the flight. Knowing Bregs he'll be a good sport about it!

I said arguably. I'm not going to try and diminish Correa or Springer but ever since Valbuena's awful start to the season he has been hitting just as good as both of them if not better for stretches of times.
Gurriell's target date is by August 16 for the home Cardinals series. That's pretty soon.
Do none of y'all have reading comprehension? I said there is a spot in the lineup for Bregman and that I expect him to get his bat going like he has at every level of baseball. Why are you being so aggressive like I'm shitting on Bregman? I watch almost every Astros game on tv or in person, I'm well aware of how the team is doing right now. Black holes at DH, LF, CF and 1B. There is definitely a spot for him somewhere, probably won't be at 3B every day once Gurriell is up though and as long as Valbuena isn't a long term injury.

If he went hitless for few more games how long would they leave him in the show before they sent him back down.

The answer is no. They will not read the comments. The read part of it and click reply. This guy is saying I somehow or another implied they would send bregman down after falling behind in count 0-1. Maybe his failed attempt at humor but he is sticking with it

Actually you said because they are in a playoff race he will have a short leash on him. I was arguing exactly against that. You seem to be the aggressive one. I stated the starting OF currently is awful. It's well documented he is working out daily to adjust to the OF if need be...so it doesn't seem like his leash is very short. Which you essentially said it was.
I am not arguing you're not a fan of the Stros or a fan of Bregs. I'm simply saying he has a longer leash than you are saying.

I think Mike Trout did not stick in his first trip to the Majors. The other Astro bats have not exactly been on fire in this Yank series either.

I'm not saying he has a short leash, Himch and Luhnow have even said he just needs to relax and play how he's capable of, no pressure. I'm simply saying hypothetically (since OP's question was hypothetical) he has a shorter leash being in a playoff race than he would if the Astros were bottom feeders right now. That is a fact that is proven by Reed being sent down after 50 at bats. Yeah he looked bad in most of them but if they had no chance at playoffs they wouldn't have sent him back so soon (see Jon Singleton as proof when they sucked).
I fully expect Bregman to break out though is what I said, so ultimately that leash would be irrelevant.

There is no leash and this is very common for a prospect who has just been called up. A MLB skipper just let's them play through. Say if he goes on a 2-40 slump with a low on base percentage, I'm sure he may get demoted for a few weeks.
